Default Three TA01 Siblings

Three TA01 rigs.
A and B were bought as a roller and needs parts.

C I picked this up from a guy who built it 15+ years ago to be a 60MPH car.

As it was shipped to me:
  • Chassis - not sure what this one is - anyone?
  • Alum front and rear lower arms
  • Upper arm turnbuckles
  • Alum front C hubs and knuckles
  • Rear Sway bar
  • Carbon fiber towers
  • Steel Universals - front and rear
  • Had a front one way dif that I removed
  • Pulled the limiting spacers out of the shocks and used the springs from a TA02 F150

What I added:
  • Added a waterproofed HS645MG
  • Threw the Goat 3S I had on the bench for the next 1.9 scaler build in it, with a 17.5t
  • FRSKY Rx in a neoprene glove finger
  • Some soft block RTR wheels and tires from Fleabay (they are decent for $18.)
  • Front foam bumper with studs up through existing holes in skid
  • Rear foam bumper on black polyE bracket I formed from a scrap

Fenders
Got a little better at making them from the TA02 I posted a few weeks ago.
TA02 Winter Rally
  • Strips and corners from an old tote.
  • Shapped to fit the M3 body from my other TA02. (That one will get a Skyline body)
  • Fit over body posts, body holds fronts in place when clipped.

Well, I made a vinyl tonneau cover for this one too LOL!
Left the back open a little near the shock tower, as the Goat has a fan on the ESC.

After a run through the yard and driveway with an inch of snow.

It did it's job

Get us some action shots!

Not sure I have ever seen so many aftermarket parts on one vehicle before.

That's an unusual chassis, not seen it before. Is there any of the original TA02 left?

I like it a lot.

I'll try and get some. There are no tracks around but we've been scouting some hiking trails.
Waiting for some measurable snowfall, so my son's and I can snowblow some sled runs around the yard to run in.

Most of the goodies were on the rig when I bought it. Original owner pimped it out to be a 60mph car 15 or so yrs ago.

Thx!
I am not sure what chassis that is. Early aftermarket something! Could it have been a DF chassis?
The dif cases and rear hubs are all that is still original.

Those diff's are pretty cool. I like how they let the battery sit dead center in the chassis. body on pics and action shots would take away so much of my anxiety right now.

First rig with the red BMW body is the modifed TA02 in this thread, running a Goat 17.5t.
The second rig with the blue Skyline body is a stock TA02 with an unmarked motor and LRP brushed controller. Prob a 17/18/19t.

Sorry for the poor video skills, on top of the dark day in Michigan.

Thanks!
Fun and priced right! I picked up three of them so my oldest two could join in as well.

BTW, my brother in law lives in Martinborough, East of Wellington.
We need to get down to visit him. Beautiful country you have!

Did you end up throwing solid axles under your CC01?
I put TLTs under a cut up CC01 chassis. Though not much CC01 remains.

Wow, VIPXJ - I did a leafed CC01 this last fall!
Axial rails, with leafs and a torque bar.
Also fabbed a slipper/GRU from a 1/16 Traxxas tranny into it.

Great looking TA! Lots of rare parts on there. I've been running them since the Skyline TA01 came out, and I've never seen an upgrade chassis like that. Looks like a modified buggy chassis.

Well I got number three done and the boys and I hit the trails.
The fenders and tonneau helped, but sand still sneaked in.

80secs of jpgs. Best one is 40secs in!

5 fresh inches of powder.
So why clean the driveway, when you can turn it into a rally track for night racing!

Upgraded rig B below with DF01 arms.
Then did a side by side comparison.
Dims shown are in mm, with the arms compressed so they are horizontal (level) with their pivot pins. [in case some shocks are longer than others].

B handled very well last night, even with it's locked rear dif.
So I am looking for more DF01 arms for A.
Then maybe some +5 or +7 wheels for C.
