Hello,

lowering weight and not losing strenght, that makes sense

My rig is heavy like a tank, bulletproof therefore and runs really well,
but i have very small options to play around with weight balance.
So i would like to get the bullys in delrin, or run the "old" ver. 1 housings
and tubes on it, but where to buy ?

Greetings Frank

hmm, delrin axle tubes?? Would it be strong enough? Would be nice for sliding over rocks, but not sure of strength... Anyone smarter than me have any idea?

I bet if RC4WD made them just as thick as stock axle tubes they would hold up and last pretty good....but I would worry about the threads for the link/shock mounts...and the knuckles if they made front tubes...??

I have the prototype v1 bullys, i was thinking of going cast in front since it weighs more and droping some of the weight out of the wheels , i was wondering if you know the difference in weight between them,

BTW i just went SLW wheels i prob droped almost a pound of weight, no weight in the rear it works alot better

ok here is the results of my shave job..
stock rear B2 short side axle tube
66g

Shaved rear B2 Short side axle tube
43g

stock rear B2 long side axle tube

99g

Shaved rear B2 long side axle tube
64g

both B2's unshaven=165grams
both B2 shaved=107grams
total grams cut from both side=58grams or 2 oz's

not bad for 20 mins of work.

Hey guys, i saw in another section here on this site that RC4WD is going to be offering an optional CNC housings and tubes for these axles in about two weeks. Maybe someone with a little more insight could chime in on this?

well you cant take the same amount off the front unless you build a servo mount that attaches to the shock and link mounts...those threaded holes in axles tubes that I shaved off the rear are used to mount the servo...
I have not done the front yet for this reason...I'm working on a BTA for my bully's...soon as I get a mount build I will shave the front like the rear and report back with pics

Yes..... I emailed Mike on this a few days ago and it's exactly what he said.

I seriously thought it would be more than 4oz, but still every bit counts.

Nice work!

Hi,
Could you do this mod for me on a light weight v3 set of rear axles? Do you think they have the strength to handle it? Also, could I send you my heavy duty front casted tubes to have new mounting holes drilled for clocking purposes?

Please email me if you are still generously providing this service.
Thanks,
Travis

I'm working on some right now. I just got a lathe so I've been playing around. V1 did work out so well so I'm starting on V2 tonight. The only thing that I'm haveing troble with is making the flat spot for the shock and link mount.
