You Could run icon scx10 like cboggs said. Or run the stock scx10 with rcbros springs. 18.00 for scx10 shocks eBay 10.00 springs 10.00 spring cup retainer rcbros.. $38.00.
I've been running stock scx10 shocks (plastic bodies) 50wt oil they've held up great.

Plenty of people swear by big bores, and Dlux can set him up with a set RTR with all the mods done if he'd like...

A few guys wouldn't have any other than traxxas big bores

If the ideal weight up front is near 6oz, even doubling up the rc4wd weights will only net you 3.5 per side. Is 3.5 enough? Or should I take the advice of others and go with blue monkey, rc bros for more weight and better tuning
I ran big bores (no cap mod) on my ax10 and loved them. But then again, I don't really have anything to compare them too since that was my first crawler.

Got the wiring cleaned up. Was able to de-case everything other than the rx including the bec. Few questions....
First, I was able to fit the esc under the plate in the chassis... lowered the cog a bit I'm sure but is heat going to be an issue? Nvrmnd, just went and looked at cboggs thread and he has the esc under the plate. Looks like I should have put the dig on that lower plate to get it a little lower. Too late now, still much better than it was.

Last thing left now is the motor wires...... I'm going to shorten them but my question is (newbie) can I wire them to the other poles on the opposite side of the motor up top? Or do I have to rotate the motors. I'm going to shorten and solder them to the motor posts but don't want them on the bottom side.

That's where they should have been to start with.. make sure the motors are set at zero degrees timing..
Because I think you'll have to reverse motor wires.

I'll have to read up on how to time a motor.
I did have to reverse the motor wires after moving them to the opposite poles.

Pretty simple. Thanks for the vid.
Now that I have an understanding of timing, What would be the recommended timing for these rc4wd 35t motors. Looks like Holmes recommends 6-12 degrees.

I can't find the markings on the casing to indicate what the timing is

If the edge of that cutout on the motor body is the mark then it would be at 6 degrees but I'm not sure of that

Did you look in other side of motor for timing marks? I bet it's set at 0* stock..

Yea, both side of the motor look the same. I'm guessing that little hole is the mark and is set to zero. It drives like it's set to zero. I'll tinker around with adjusting it. Does anyone time the front a little faster than the rear? Or should they both be set the same

Looks good. Does it drive well with what is that, a little over 2oz? I went ahead and ordered 2 sets of the rc4wd weights. If they don't work out Ill try modifying the others suggested
