Red will be the new colour. Faded and cruddy. No shine. I started tooling around a bit with this. I thought about trying the R3 Single speed transmission in it, but ultimately, it meant moving the steering servo around, which added a ton more bump steer, so I decided to stick with the R2. It's natural drag brake was so strong last time around, I'll just stick with it. The only downside was wheel speed wasn't great. I guess I'm running 3S this time around. N00b fenders are in. These trucks had two buckets in front, presumably so people could crawl between them to get to the back seat. So I needed to start modifying the interior to reflect that. It'll get detailed as I go. I've got an excellent carpet picked out. Is that a oil drum in the back?!

Minor interior work started today. I started by extending the floor to match up with the bed, and building upwards to create the interior panels where seat belts would mount. Panels. You can see here that the resin interior had to be extended to cover the joint between the cab and bed. Oil drum. Might make it into a steel drum and play some reggae. |

Love it! The seats fit the interior very well and match the very slim, uncomfortable seats in the 1:1! Your picture replicating mine is pretty much perfect. I think a very drab grey blue would look great on this thing. |

Your seats look like real TRD bucket seats. I like. More people on this forum should try a little harder to incorporate some 1/10th scale reggae oil drums into their build. I'm surprised you don't see more of that. Last edited by Rollin Nice!; 03-13-2014 at 03:56 AM. Reason: additional oil drum comment |

Back on this one. A secret part came in the mail from Australia on Friday. I can't say any more. But it'll make for some laughs on the trails. I virtually guarantee that. I brazed up a simple roll cage for the rear. I'm fairly chuffed with it. Last edited by imthatguy; 04-06-2014 at 08:46 PM.

I did a miniature amount of work today. I wasn't happy with the seats, seeing as they were already made by a machine, so I went ahead and cut up some scraps from an old bench seat and made a couple buckets. I also started a crate to hide the secret contraption. Comedy has yet to be added to the exterior of the crate. I feel like more may have been accomplished, but it wasn't worthy of a digital picture. |

Nice looking truck makes me want to loose the 1.9s, what size shocks are you running up front with the 3 link?

I'm pretty sure that they're 90mm shocks up front. I'm not a fan of ridiculous shock travel. Maybe I'll switch to 70mm Emu's. I started painting today. Why is it so lumpy you ask? I'm a terrible painter, that's why. Just kidding. That's good old Kosher salt. I laid down some darker, rusty red colour beforehand, to give this truck a weather beaten look. This is merely step one. Once the paint cures, I wash it under hot water to dissolve the salt and reveal the other colour underneath. Fun.

It would look pretty good with some BBQ sauce on it.

| Like the kind you might get with McNuggets? Here's step one completed. You can see how the darker colour shows through where the salt was. It's got a nice lumpy surface, just like weather beaten paint would bubble. Awesome. Hooray for straight lines. |

More paint work. Lots of weathering to go. Need to flat it out before more weathering happens. I'm quite pleased with the progress. |

| Toyota Truck for Trucking
Sorry I ruined what would have been a perfect truck for trucking with my foolish upside down tailgate. But in my defense there was no one around to hold my beer.

I like it. I always see people with different ways of displaying the Toyota on the gate of older pickups.

It's better than the standard "YOTA" or "TIYOTE"... I made a ton of progress in the paint and detailing department. Here's some pics to prove it. You can see there's a fair bit of weathering. You know it's time to stop when you think it might not be enough. At least, that's my experience. Here's some detail shots.
