Thumbs down Ocho's TF2.0 (nothing you haven't seen before)

Hey guys and gals. Figured I should share my build. I don't think it's anything you haven't seen before. I must say the TF2 has come along way from the TF1 I bought years ago. Iv always wanted a class 1 truck and through a series of fortunate events I for a TF2 kit and here we go.

Some components
18.5T Ballistic crawler motor
Mamba max pro
some random Savox servo for steering
Hitec mini something for shifting.
MIPs
XVDs
Some old Mayhem 1.9s
Pit bull growlers.

First thing first was assembling the chassis. It went together pretty much per instructions other than a shackle reversal in the front, moving the shock hoops back, using one step higher bumper mounts front and rear, and a Tcase flip with over under. I was gonna run a GCM case but decided not to so I could have the over under.

A nice flat belly

Next thing I did was ruin the body, I wanted to Bob and cut this thing like I would if it were a real truck. I didn't want to take it to the extreme as I know a lot of people have a fear of chopping up their trucks. Something I dont understand haha.

I ended up taking about 1" out of the length of the bed and maybe 1/4" off of the bottom.

And that left me here

Then I cut a hole in the floor to build a recessed battery box to get the weight as low as possible

Still plenty of room in the bed for trail spares and scale accessories.

Next I'll get all this glued together and start on the cab

Thanks, if it wasn't for your event I wouldn't even have this thing

Got the bed together today. Filled most of it with styrene. Built the box for the battery. I need to pull some styrene to make weld beads for the glue line and then make a top to hide the battery. Fitting a 3000mah 3 cell should make for hours of fun.

Got a few packages today as well. Rpp coming through with some pitbull growlers and rc4wd getting me some m3 heims and xvds. I have to say pit bull continues to impress me with their products. They should look great stretched over some old mayhem 1.9"s iv always been a fan of 1.55s but I don't have a set haha. Maybe some day I'll pick up some voids.

There is a thread floating around with actual instructions. But to sum it up I used spacers to space the electronics plate off the frame 3 or 4 mm. Then flipped the original input shaft so that it comes out of the other side of the case than it did originally. Then rotated the case so that it mounts from the top. Drilled holes I'm the the electronic plate and mounted the case to it. Now the case is a lot more scale as it has a straight through drive for the rear shaft (the dana 18 is the only tcase that comes to mind that has both front and rear outputs offset and no sane person would put one in a Toyota lol) and the front output actually drops on the correct side of the chassis To match the front axle. A good side effect of this is that it gives you a .46 over drive for the front axle

Edit here is a link to the instructions.

That thread looks good but I couldn't see the pics. I also don't have the electronics plate on my tf2 so I'll have to think about how I'll be able to achieve something similar. Thanks for the tips. Keep up the nice work on the build.

Well I've been taking my sweet ass time with this build. RCS have been kind of uninteresting to me for the last few months so this has just been sitting on the floor next to my desk. Today however I got bit by the build bug so I did some work. Got the body almost done and ready for primer. Only thing left is the grill. Still gotta cut out the inserts and make some mesh for them and clean up my cuts around the edges. Oh and trim the fender flares a bit. Got the chassis and drive train almost done too. Got a set of the new xvds to toss in and lube the tranny and it'll be good. Anyway enough talking time for pics I put a bottle of tenax in the pics to show how high these bumpers are mounted. It came out better than I expected

Looks great, love the bed chop, bumper height, just need to buy some proper sized wheels for the tires. The transfer case mod is sweet too!

Looking very nice. We need to find a day when we can get all the TF2's out at the same time, would make for a fun GTG.

Agreed - Alex and I just gotta get ours finished. I think I'm ready for paint and he adds to my todo list....
Alex - I still have that big spool of thread we did the ratrod cab with.... But you have todo my grill too.
What are you using for mesh?
