Default XR10 mod for the Gen7!

Edit:after trying to run it, it's too tight between the C-hub and knuckle causing the XR10 axle joint to bind against the C-hub. It does work with the VVD's though with no issues, still improving the steering a lot.

What I originally posted:
I just used axial high steer knuckles and some cut down XR10 shafts to mod the steering. I'll post up some pictures later tonight. It's easy though, since the axial knuckle fits right over the redcat C-hub.

So you can use the xr10 universals with the stock Gen7 parts?

No, unfortunately the universal joint is too long. You can use the cvd's or VVD's with the stock knuckles and hubs, but they limit the steering. That's why I recommend using high steer knuckles, since they don't limit the steering. The axial cvd's or VVD's allow for more steering angle than the stock redcat cvd's also.

On my Gen7 I clearanced the parts enough that I ran out of steering when the CVDs reached their limits, not because of issues with the knuckles hitting the axle tube. It's good to know that other CVDs will give me more angle. When I break one of these, I'll seek out something else, along with new lockers to accept them.

My guess is if you used the XR10/wraith chubs & knuckles, it'd work fine. The plastic bits from Axial are cheap enough to try and see.

Just be careful with your servo settings after clearancing the knuckles. I tried running the stock cvd's and broke the pins after a few minutes. Even though they have as much angle as the axials when static, they hit the pins when they rotate and snap.

I agree. I just have to pick some up. New holes have to be drilled to secure the C-hub though, since the redcat mounting holes are further inboard than the axial

Unlike a lot of guys whose videos seem to show the tires turning enough to contact the springs, I found that at full lock the CVAs were getting "notchy", which means it was putting pressure on those pins. I backed off accordingly on the steering.
