Reminds me of Grizzly's old Duke, with the cantilever dampener and coil setup.

I like it

It looks like Lexan, but is it me or does it seem like a THICK Lexan. The truck seems pretty capible, but knowing the way us crawlers get down I bet there will be very few stock trucks running come the time for summer comps. It does not seem on the same level as a AX10, but that is what it will compete with for that market.

that body dont look to bad... I still hate lexan though

I would be interested in the axles.. I hope theyre not just highlift axles.

That thing needs some 1.9's on it

-edit-

shit, there are already enough lexan fj builds on here as it is...

even if it is a lexan body, it's still a TAMIYA lxan body, and those still seem to be much more detailed than most of the other lexan bodies on the market, just look at their TC bodys, and the tourag shell...

I agree, the rear axle sits back too far.

Yeah lately Tamiya has been moving more to the Lexan shells in all their vehicles. I know many crawlers here don't think outside of the old MT look, but even their old hard body Mini-Cooper and others are quickly getting replaced with Lexan.

I am both a Tamiya fan and a FJ40 fan, but not very impressed with the previews I've seen of their new kit.

First off is the lexan body, which looks pretty much like the Proline FJ40 (cool) and the later Buckwacker body (not cool). They need to take things up a notch in my book when they release something years after other manufacturors, both for the body and chassis. Something like a 1/10 version of the Aoshima 1/8 FJ40 hard body.

Chassis wise, I would loved to see something more realistic, like TCS crawlers X trail frame on Axial Scorpion, which would be a good starting point for both a crawler and a scaler, as well as a pretty good out-of-the-box runner.

They should have released the FJ40 25 years ago, with their first 3spd's.
