I think I'm gonna scrap the chassis too.

I've got an old CJ screamin' eagle power wheels jeep sitting down stairs...that might fit those monsters a little better!!! LOL

Still liking'em though

Some day that TJ will get built. Just not anytime soon. As you can tell by the dust on it.:-( The guys at work are saying Go Cart with a Kohler V Twin

BIG EDITI had to read it again. I just couldn't believe it the first time. Reflection wants me to build a JJJJeep. Steve's been working too hard, and his brain is fried

Anyway, new chassis started\/

I'm kinda thinkin Unimog cab. Mainly so there's enough room for the radio gear

Just about finished with the tube work. Now it's time to start suspension mounts. The diff side is actually the easiest. I just used housing bolts. The resemblance to a Mog is nonexistent. It looks more like a Dodge Power Wagon:?

Now you can use the RC4Wd tires.

I'm still gonna narrow the Blast rims. If they still hit I can't use them on this build. :(

Figured I'd post some progress.

Skid plate out of 1/4 delrin.

Lower links out of 5/16 delrin. These are by far the easiest links I have EVER made. I made some drilling jigs and this stuff taps like butter. Now I just need to figure out a good clean way to bend them

Also made some servo/upper link mount brackets out of my trusty white stuff

Any naked shots of the cage work. WB, track width, chassis widths, lengths. Pretty much as much info as he wants to give PM me.

5/16 is heavier than the 1/4 aluminum I used to use. The delrin that bendy? I was gonna cut some out of the flat 1/4 sheet I got but someone else already did that

No seriously, I need some different rears. I think I'm going to have clearance issues with the shocks and the shaft under full compression. I think I'm going to mount the shocks on the lowers so I will need some beefier material.

Edit: Guess I need to rethink that too. The shaft is above the lower links so it's gonna take some serious engineering

Delrin is very flexible. You may have to go back to the axial trans to get the shafts down and out of the way?

Yah but I like to be different. It may be my only choice

Yeah man, your gonna want to go minimum 1/2" round delrin or 3/8"x1/2" flatstock for the lower links...especially if your going to mount the shocks on them.

I think 5/16 is even to flexy for the uppers.

Looks pretty cool though

Laid my axial trany in last night. The geometry is just SO much better. The shafts would clear everything better. I new this would be the better choice between the two options but this may get put in this truck permanently. The torque twist should be greatly reduced with the shafts that much lower too.

I'm kind of concerned about the links now. I have plenty of vertical seperation so there shouldn't be that much of a strength issue. The front links are short enough I don't think I'll have an issue but the rears are rather long. Maybe some impact flexing? Hopefully no load flexing.

Definitely go with 1/2" delrin on the lower links IMO. Cheap, durable, and cool looking!

I had a problem with snapping rod ends when I ran aluminum links...couldn't figure out why until I replaced them with 1/2" delrin. After watching how the delrin links behaved under heavy torque, I saw they were flexing a bit. I put the aluminum links back on and repeating the same scenario, the lack of flex in the link transferred straight to the rod ends and snapped them. So for me, the flex that can occur in the delrin saves $ in revo rod ends.

Side note: Tried running 3/8" delrin and snapped them with a quickness.

1/2"? Cheese and rice, that would just look huge and bulky. I still want to cut some lowers out of flat like my buddy Dez. I also am running 8/32 Jato links.

Made some progress on rims and tires
The rims sit at 2 3/4" inside outer bead. The tires in their natural state, without foams, actually sit right at 2 3/4" bead width. These narrowed rims make them look a lot better too. I also still need to reinforce these rims.

I might even be able to tolerate the minimal rubbing now There is daylight between the shocks. The shaft just barely make contact. Under load it may drive me nuts though:-(

As much as I like being different, I may just end up using the Axial trany. As much as it pains me it just makes better sense. Until Egressor comes out with his new gear box this will have to do.

Kinda looks like Big Foot when he had them huge snow expedition tires on

And by NO means are these shocks the ones I'm using.
