How much weight do you think you'll lose with aluminum hardware?
Great looking rig

It is really hard to say at this point. I noticed when using aluminum screws on the wheels and chassis of my 2.2 I was able to see a considerable difference. I am hoping for the same results here. The grams just add up and am also going to use aluminum hollow balls to replace the steel in the rod ends.
I hope to have more pics up soon. Been real busy so the progress is slow.

Lightened and shaved a few parts and now finally have some time to put them back together to see what they weigh in at. Looks like I am going to have to remove more weight. Still waiting for RCbros light weight lockers to come in also.

Drilled the gears using a drill press in a very crude manor but I think it will work fine.

Weight with the case, gears, and bearings

Weight of a tube

Weight of case loaded with tubes

Weight of the case loaded and bolted together with bolts holding the tubes on also.

Trying to figure out where to save more weight.

Ok, I sold the mini since I am so bored with it and they seem to be going away.

I ordered up some D-Lux tubes and servo mounts. This thing should be under 6 pounds RTR for sure. Thanks Erik for the awesome products.

Where are you cutting an entire lb from your rig that is on mine? No front weight?

I am in the same boat. Not even interested in it anymore, not even for the "overall" score.

Some more AWESOME D-Lux parts came in today so I finished up the with the axle assemblies. I also installed some RCBros super light weight Berg lockers. Wow they are light.

I missed the mark of under 6 pounds. There isnt much more weight I could loose at this point other than maybe some carbon fiber wheels. It comes in at 6.6 pounds RTR and that is with 8 ounces of combined knuckle weight.

I reshrunk the ESC's and used 20 gauge wire to the motors and 18 gauge wire fromt he battery to the ESC's. This helped save some weight also but fell short of the target. Looks like I would have to spend a bunch more money to loose more weight and I am not sure if that is really needed. I am very happy with the way it has come together and looks. Now to get it out on the rocks soon. Maybe I will have time next week.

Looks good!

I cant tell from here, but on the delrin tubes I have found its best to have a screw holding the chub on every 90*. If not, the chub can rock back and forth and wollow those 2 screws out.

I think our cars are about the same. I need to weigh my knuckle weights again though but I am right on 7lb with what I think is 7-8oz per knuckle.

From here, I can see over a half ounce that could be easily saved and its free. Receiver case is worth 5g and if you cut your wiring to size, you could save a few more grams. That BEC has a little board on it that is just taped to the actual electronic board. You can remove that along with the capacitor if yours has one. Also, lathing down those big bores could save up to 12g. So, not too much but about 1-1.5oz still to cut that I can see.

If money were no option, where would you cut more weight other than wheels?

x 2 I did that on mine too and it holds perfect! Thinking for the use with the big wheels it's the way to go.
