Awesome to see updates! Video of the new steering in action? How do you like the pit bulls vs the pins?

Thanks mate.

I haven't taken any video just yet. I am hoping to get some shortly.

I'm really liking the pitbulls. They hook up really good. I shaved and sipped them, these mods transformed the tires. So much so that I haven't ran the pin tires for quite a while now. I'm not sure when ill use them. I've noticed because of the closer tread blocks you don't have the hop you have with a lugged tire.
They preform similar to the pins that I have.

I forgot to mention it earlier, the uni shafts are made from chromoly steel so they should be strong enough to handle what I can throw at it.

Have had a fairly substantial change.
I really liked the torque of the servo strengtheners, however I didn't like the constant skipping I had. In binds I would always pop the gears, I checked my servos for the broken spigot in the out put gear. Neither servo had an issue. I don't know why they kept skipping so I converted to dual servos. Now I running 4x 7980 and I'm loving the power.
What it the servo itself skipping or was it the gears on the strenghtener? I have the same problem the servo itself is skipping and I don't really understand why it is doing that.

It was the gears on the strenghtener. I mainly drive this on more bolder style rocks so there's lots of holes and strange edges.

It got to the stage where it would skip at every rock. The front was the only one that skipped aswell. It was strange and annoying

Mine is doing the same shit, I trimmed the gear down on the front but didn't do the rear and after that the front skips.

Wow 2 huge thumbs up on your build. I am super jealous about your pitbulls too. On my 2.2 I've ran Sedona's, BC's, Rock Grabbers, and Pitbulls. And with what I crawl on and how I crawl the Pitbulls are my best gripping tires. I love them! I contacted CI and begged him to make a set of Pitbulls for me, but he wouldn't If you ever decide to let go of them

Awesome work, I am considering the servo gear strengtheners. The decision seems bias because I read lots of good stuff, then sometimes not so good. Again very very cool rig!!

Thanks for the kind words.

The pit bulls are great. I emailed CI a few times over a long period to see if he would be interested in making any super tires.
He contacted me saying he wants to make some super pitbulls, so I jumped on them. These are the result and I'm very happy.

It's hard to say about the servo strengtheners. I really enjoyed using them, the power is amazing. I sucked when they popped. It got to the stage where I had to carry a spanner in my pocket and fix it up ever 2 meters on the rocks.

How was the servo strengther's skipping gears is it when the axle flexes?

When the wheels in a bind the power of the strengthener would keep moving the gears, I'd say that the plate that holds them and the servo out put shaft flexing together allowed then to skip.

I checked the spigot inside the servo as suggested in the thread. No problems there

Even with the gear mesh as tight as I could get it, it would still skip.

It was only ever the front aswell. The front takes a lot of abuse. Dual servos is amazing so I'm very happy with the change

Sorry you had issues with the strengtheners. They are not the easiest product to setup and youre not the first to have issues.

It may be too late, but there are some things to look at when setting them up. As you found out, if they veer anywhere from a perfect setup, you can have problems.

First thing is to have the linkages straight when looking from the front. Looks like yours were dead on from what I can see.

I have also found it important to have the gear mesh as tight as possible, maybe even a bit of pre load if you could, you said you had this in check too, but just to help others.

I tighten my nut on the bearings as tight as I can. Thats quite a bit since its a big wrench youre putting on there. To give an idea of how much I tighten it, I have broken a threaded post and many AL nuts. I finally got rid of the AL nut. I think they were flexing a bit and allowing some slop and went to steel. Ever since I went to a steel nut, I have not had mine skip even in the biggest binds.

Its really hard to explain how to get these to function or see what a problem is without having them in hand to see what is going on. If I had to diagnose the problem from the net, I would say that your problem may have been that the drag link or steering arm were too short or even both. If youre steering has the possibility of camming over, to me, that says that it could possibly be operating in a zone where instead of pushing and pulling in a straight line, when it gets to either end of the spectrum, it will want to start pushing upwards on the gear/arm and this makes the plate flex and skip gears.

When I set my drag link up, I make it so when it turns full right that the rod end touches the carbon plate. Then, when steering back, if it cams over or looks like it is pushing up on the gear instead of in a straight line, this is when you need to use the longer arm to have a smaller throw and stay in that zone. When you go to the longer arm, you need to setup the drag link to hit the carbon again.
