BTW, mounting the radio box with those little rubber o-rings underneath was a complete PITA...

The Proline Flatiron XL's were too large; they would rub against the body once mounted unless I lifted the body posts. I decided instead to replace them with the stock tires for now. Anyone interested in buying 4 practically brand new Flatiron XL tires? Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk |

Looking good! The standard Flatirons fit much better. RC4WD mud country's are also a good fit.

Thanks for the tip on the tires. When I initially bought the XL's, I was thinking the regular flatirons were smaller than the stock tires and would look strange on the rim. I was mistaken in that assumption. I will sell the XL's, and after look into the ones you recommended. Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk |

Thanks. Yes, those are RC4WD wheels. I also started the body. Washed everything and let it dry. Now waiting for the primer to cure. Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk |

It's getting there. Painting all the trim and other fiddly bits was a real pain. My hand isn't as steady as it used to be. Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk |

Purty! Are you going with the decals and the stock bruiser look?

Yes, going with a box art build. Any tips for doing the rear tail lights; specifically the black surround trim? Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk |

Testors black with a detail brush, and an Ultra Fine Sharpie has always worked for me!

Just a few remaining stickers left but for the most part, my box art Bruiser is done. I also have to paint the driver but will do that at a later date. Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk |

Those are 1.9" GearHead Vegas with .250 hubs on rear, and .500 hubs on the front to get wheels to sit correctly. The tires are RC4WD IROK super swampers. I'm going to be switching wheels to SSD steel D-hole wheels since they are bright silver and will look better with box art paint in my opinion. I had to order vanquish hubs for those wheels so have to wait for them to come in to put them on. and on those wheels I'll run the Proline BFG Krawler tires. Here is same set of wheels and tires on my sons SCX10. |

Thanks for the info. Did you have to change the hubs to get those wheels to work properly? Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk |

| Re: Just ordered my Bruiser!!! The gearhead wheels come without hubs, just so happened that I had the wider offset on rear of my scx10 and narrower on front, so I put them on the Bruiser front on rear and rear on front to test them and they worked perfectly. The ssd come with hubs but they are all the same offset, and take a weird 2.5mm bolt...so I went with vanquish hubs on the ssd since they fit the bolt pattern and center hole and accept 4-40 hardware so I can run scale acorn lug nut hardware.

Since when? Every one of the half of a dozen Gear Head wheels that I bought came with hubs. EDIT: I just checked RPP and all of the Vegas wheels come with hubs. Did you buy yours used? If not you got ripped off because they should have come with hubs. Last edited by JatoTheRipper; 01-03-2018 at 07:22 AM. | |
