i had hit a bit of a brick wall. i was wanting to do this as a 16" wheelbase. seems i dont have any shocks that i like for that. so i am going to shorten the wb to about 15" that should allow me to run shorter shocks and not have to link mount them. the terrain around here does seem to be alittle on the tight side anyway and the shorter wheel base may help me in that respect as well. anyone know the length the steering arm needs to be to from knuckle to knuckle?

looks like i may end up eating my own words, now the only problem i am having is link clearances, the axle braces seem to be in the way of the lower links and they shocks, though i do remember seeing some braces that should fix that. also anyone know of some good tires that will fit on the stock clod rims? i found a sweet old set of aluminum rims in my closet and would like to run them.

Default lower link mounts

I have some lower link mounts that I made out of carbon fiber that will solve your problem that I am no longer using . You can have them if you pay shipping. They won't win you any beauty contest but they're not that bad looking either. I had the same problem. It was even worse when I switched to a behind the axle steering kit. I make all the parts I need as I am on an almost invisible budget myself. Well the ones that I can make out of Acetal "Delrin" or carbon fiber and alum. sometimes. I do it the cheap way when it comes to getting my carbon fiber. This one company sells sample pieces that are 3.5" x 3.5" by 3.2mm thick which is a little over 1/8" thick I think for $5 plus shipping. They also sell a sample pack with 3 different thicknesses, 1.???, 2.7, and 3.2mm for like $10 or $11.They are small pieces , but I'm not making nothing big just little things like link mounts and servo mounts and such.If You guy big pieces it's really really expensive so that's why I get the sample pieces. It's easy to cut and drill. Well I am rambling on. I get to typing or talking about something and find myself going on and on.See I'm doing it again. Let me know if you need those mounts and I will find them. By the way looks like your going to have a pretty nice crawler.

i have not given up on this build just kinda fell on a back burner while i looked at solutions to my lower link issue. i think i may have found something in using the stock links. basically using the inner piece for mounting the stock linkd to the axle, (the stock unit being a two piece setup involving the actual link and an inner piece to fit over the ball on the axle tubes. i am using the other piece as it lines up near perfectly with the screw hole on the c for the chassis brace. also if i cut the stock link i could make this into a solid piece that could take pressure of of the c, anyone ever tired this before?
