| Quick Build 4link.
After trying out my Swivel Chassis (Swivel Chassis Prototype) I took it all apart tore down the axles and cleaned them and then put in a ball bearing set. I needed a rig for this weekend as my daughter was coming over and wanted to run her Nylint 1:6 so instead of using the prototype swivel and instead of going with the stock Clod chassis I decided to make a quick 4 link setup with some TLT parts and a Chassis I fabbed up so I could do some crawling. Specs: Clod Axles Locked with rubber shielded bearings 65T Team Integy Lathe Motors Stock 13T Pinions Traxxas XL-1 ESC 4WS with 2 Futaba S3003 Steering Servos. (Yes weak, but all I got for now.) 2400mah battery 4AA Receiver pack IMEX 2.2 Swamp Dawgs Stock Clod Buster Chevy body Yeah it is kinda high but I plan on muddin and some water crossing with it as well as some crawling. The front steering links and position of the body are a negative as they get hung up a bit but it will do for this weekend. Will get some more pics when I run it this weekend. Here is a trial run movie I just did. Only thing to climb near by is this pipe. http://www.virtual4x4.com/movies/piprcrawl.AVI Here are some pics: |

Thanks man. Nothing super shiny or special but thought it was worth posting. Forgot to mention wheel base is 11" from front lug nut to rear lug nut and 12.5" wide from outside of right front tire to outside of left front tire. Pretty stable for being a little high. The stock TLT shocks have seen better days though. Need some new shocks. |

Nope, those tyres fit standard clod wheels, they're called swamp dawgs. Cheers 8-) |

Yeah they fit the standard clod axles fine. Just take off the black part over the gold hex nut and put those wheels on. I had to add a spacer before the wheel nut though or the nut will not tighten down all the way. Couple small washers would work fine I think. Just got back from rock crawling and didn't fair to well but the area was pretty rough. Will have a few pics up in a while. |

Here are some pics. Going to leave them as links as they are pretty large. Daughters Nylint following mine. http://www.virtual4x4.com/pics/rock1.jpg ------------------------------------ These 2 show the main problems I had. Steering links and bottom axle links caught on pretty much everything. http://www.virtual4x4.com/pics/rock2.jpg http://www.virtual4x4.com/pics/rock3.jpg ------------------------------------ This is just an overview of the rocks. There is a couple hundred acres up there. Very rough terrain though. 2.2 tires and wheels are just to small. Need a lot more clearance. http://www.virtual4x4.com/pics/rock4.jpg I managed to break loose my front axle lock job so apart it will come. Going to go back to my Swivel Chassis to. It would have been a lot better than this setup. Anyway going to order up some parts for my TLT build and then get back to the clod later. |

Here is how it looks with the stock Clod wheels and tires. Got a call and headed up to my Grandparents house next weekend. They live on a river and have a nice beach to do some beach bashing on. These big tires work pretty good in the sand. Also broke my front diff lock loose and made another with plexy glass and some bolts: Quick Diff Lock The stock TLT shocks have to go. They suck with this much tire and weight. |

These clod tires are plenty big to float the truck. Got a quick vid driving it in to the river. http://www.virtual4x4.com/movies/floatingclod.AVI If I sealed the holes in the tires it would keep floating. Anyway this chassis sucks. Going to start rebuilding it. Think I will forget 2.2 specs and just go bigger. That is for another thread though. |
