Hey JIA, I am planning on perhaps getting one of these things. This will be my very first 2.2 if I get one (I am into the Supers for comp crawling), but I wanted this as a scaler but for light competition as well. Would you recommend getting this? I know almost nothing about Tamiya stuff (Except for Clod axles), how good of quality their stuff is, and ease of building, so I just wanted a bit of extra info from someone who actually has one.

Thanks
It's going together just fine. No issues.

As far as recommending it, we'll see after I run it.

This material is different from that of Clod, TLT, and Hi-Lift axles...not just simple ABS, it's a composite.

If you mean that they're identical in that they're black, have axle shafts, a diff, and knuckles can attach to them...then yes, they're identical.

Everything else is different.

i meant the internals look the same...the ring and pinion look identical to a TLT one from the pics...and i wonder if the axle shafts are the same...

If you mean identical in that they're metallic in color, fit into a diff with splines, use E-clips, and have dogbones on each end...then yeah - they're identical.

Otherwise - not so much.

The internals are closer to Hi-Lift parts than TLT.

It's locked.

I figured it was easier to put lube in from the start than to, for whatever reason, unlock it later and run it without lube.

IMO I think the Axles are too wide. People complain about the width of TLT axles, I think a pinch over the Axial axles should have been the width they were shooting for. Also, it seems the axles weren't designed with clearance in mind, more strength, so they put more webbing on the case than they did with the TLT axles. This I think is unneccesary, since the TLT axle cases were pretty strong from the start. And the link mounts suck too.

Well that sucks. The axles are just as wide as wheely king axles. Oh well, I was hoping we would have another axle to use.

It's a 2.2 at 10.25"

How wide were you expecting?

I didn't expect them to be as narrow as the TLT's to be honest. I figured Tamiya is smart. They saw that 99.9% of people were putting wideners on the TLT's so why make ANOTHER narrow axled truck? I didn't expect them to be in the WK area though, I have to admit that.

You have Axials and WKs to be wide. These would be great for a scale build.
