| stretched wheelbase almost done...
Ok, here are the pics of what I did. So far I have noticed quite a difference. Just gotta get out somewhere to really test it out, as it is I can almost climb stairs. I think when I bend my lower links I will be able to. first 2 pics are the original wheelbase measurement. Material used Material cut to length Drilling out links Using 3mm tap to cut threads Finished product New wheelbase Last edited by Gunngee; 11-22-2012 at 04:06 PM. |

Ok, finally finished. Bending the rear links shortened the wheelbase by .25" I can live with that. Last edited by Gunngee; 11-22-2012 at 04:08 PM. |

Should help a ton stability-wise, and take some stress off the driveshafts...not going to help the steering any though unfortunately. What are the body plans? Also, what's the black plastic piece mounted on the center sides of the chassis rails just above the tranny? |

Ok, had a chance to really give it a work out over the weekend. No broken driveshafts, Way less roll overs and I can climb way steeper obstacles plus my travel is awesome. Love it. Plans for the body include a 4 door jeep JKU but that may not happen until my birthday in October or christmas. The turning radius probably did suffer a bit but really I didn't notice enuf of a difference to make me second guess my mods at all. The black plastic pieces you are asking about are the side mounts for the wrangler hard body.

That thing's a beast! Absolutely love the mod you did with the custom links. With the added 2" length, can your rig tackle standard size stairs? I've tried everything to try to get mine up a staircase, but the wheel base is just too short. |

| Re: stretched wheelbase almost done... It ALMOST does stairs. It's so close it's not funny. I think all it needs is a taller tire but I'm already running 2.3's and I don't really wanna go any bigger.

I chose the 19mm (or 3/4) ones cause I always say go big or go home. It made me 1.5" wider over all and because of this I can do some pretty sick off camber stuff. I love it. Last edited by Gunngee; 11-22-2012 at 05:47 PM. | |
