Yeah i'd love to see an R2 with bearings, wider gears, and maybe even 48 pitch gears.

alright ive got the lower links in place, the ride height set, figured out the length needed for the upper links and figured out a couple options on the shocks. not sure what i'm going with yet but it'll work its self out. ;-) its got the OG in it now because i forgot to swap it out before putting things together. if the chassis/trans look formiliar its because theyre out of my 2.2 blackjack... ive got another blackjack and trans waiting to reassemble the 2.2... its gonna be as low slung as possible and still have some awesome breakover angle.

Nice start, looks like it will be interesting mounting shocks up though.......

My thoughts exactly. Link mounted shocks, which I'm not a big fan of,might work. May have to build some extensions off the chassis.

I'm currently running my rear shocks on the super at a pretty steep angle. To make up for that,I run 1000 weight oil and some nylon spacers on the shaft to severely limit the travel. Might do something like that.

Looks cool. I'll be curious to see how well this will run with supers. I'd like to build me a 14r pretty soon. I'd stick to my typical drivetrain though.

dieselfuel 09-16-2007 12:35 PM

the shock mounting will be interesting, im thinking about doing touring car shocks, inernal sprung, all droop mounted to the links. its about 3 1/4" from the uppers to where i wanted to mount the shocks on the axles. and yes they would be heavily limited as far as travel goes, kinda like the 2.2 blackjack setup.

I've been saying it for 1.5 years but I have to build one of these!

You and me both man! ever since i saw EeePee's 14er, like last year, ive wanted one. It'd be cool to have a bunch of em at nats next year. A little 14er get together...

FrankyRizzo 09-16-2007 10:51 PM

Apparently they don't like you either...

It's OK. When it out crawls your rig you will see.

And if i was building this thing to compete with it, i just might care about that.

JohnRobHolmes 09-17-2007 08:47 AM

Take it easy with that r2 tranny. You have 2:1 axles right?

drumbeater 09-17-2007 08:55 AM

Mohawker finish it so we can see what type of builder you are.

dieselfuel 09-17-2007 10:11 AM

I dont know when it'll be done yet, i still need wheels, tires, a servo, servo mount plate, upper links, and to mount the shocks. And money to build **** is kinda hard to come by as my g/f is making me pay bills instead of building crawlers... ****in priorities.

dieselfuel 09-17-2007 11:32 PM

yea jon im still running the stock gears. ill be upgrading to the 4:1s as soon as i can.

what do you guys suggest for servo mounting? seeing as how my links mount on top of my axles i cant set the links on the axle tubes.

Reflection 09-18-2007 07:17 AM

Have you thought about a chassis mounted servo? It'd be pretty simple to mount a bell crank on the axle. I've used bell cranks in my steering set ups many times. When space in limited, bell cranks can work awesome.

To bad you weren't using Twin axles,it'd be way to simple to mount everything up.
