Re: Power To The Portal (Makeover)

So the plans where to run a pajero body so i made a deal with a member and got the above pajero body. The day i got it i was searching some builds and fell in love with this hilux and i have always wanted one but just never built one. So out with the pajero and in with the hilux"thumbsup"

First things first i had to cut the chassie to get this build rolling so no turning back now.

New frame rails
http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/DSCF2447.jpg

As you can see the frame will be a bit wider then the stock axial width

Still have some cleaning up to do along with trimming the back of the chassie to fit in the cab.

Nice! I like the changes so far. "thumbsup"

Still have the skid? I'll buy it back from you if you want to part with it (as well as any of the other custom parts I made). :ror:

Thanks i hope you like it and yes i still have all the parts. The way im doing to rear setup im gonna run the lower links in the same spot using the metal brace and carrier bearing due to cutting the chassie it will add strength to it. And i will still be using the bottom skid. Sorry I was thinkin of making a new one but there isnt any reasons why becuase the one on it works perfect. Now that i think about it i have some thicker aircraft stainless that is a bit heavier then the skid you made and would help out adding wait to the bottom.

Thanks "thumbsup" and i love these little rigs and the way the IFS performs is alot of fun. I wheel a 94 pathfinder with the same susp setup lol except the protals.

No prob, easy enough to make. I wouldn't run the stainless if it's heavier, still a few inches above the ground. Can't wait to see it finished. :ror:

Re: Power To The Portal (Makeover)

Thought i would post some progress pics even tho its not much. Just got back from vacation and i got a little work done.

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/DSCF2483.jpg

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/DSCF2485.jpg
Hardest part of a build to me is making the body mounts that are strong and hiddin. I used a highlift cab mount and cut it in half and use some existing holes in the tub. It will be hidden by the future tube work.

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/DSCF2488.jpg

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/DSCF2489.jpg

Im thinking i may need to extend the rear frame rails a bit. Maybe? Maybe not?

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/DSCF2490.jpg

Doubt ill get this much flex once the 4-link is all bolted up

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/DSCF2491.jpg

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/DSCF2492.jpg

I plan on boxing all this in with stryne for stiffness and looks

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/DSCF2494.jpg

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/DSCF2493.jpg

The axial frame has the same curve and fit pretty nice.

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/DSCF2496.jpg

Front body mount the extra threads help line up the upper cab mount.

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/DSCF2497.jpg

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/DSCF2498.jpg

More to come!!!! Let me know what you guys think "thumbsup"

That frame to tub mod is one of the coolest ideas for these rigs and your right the line of the curve matches up really good. Keep up the good work can wait to see what you got going on next.

Re: Power To The Portal (Makeover)

Just a few updates I made and mocked up a stainless upper link mount that still needs to be fully welded up. I also extended the frame rails and i think it makes it look alot better.

Thanks man "thumbsup" and its like the 500,000,000 highlux but that's why I did it becuase it is different from all the others. And the chassis went together like they where meant to be along with the body position.

Did you say NISSAN!?!?!? Lol whatcha got? Im gonna roll this hilux for awhile then I want to get a custom built 90s 4dr pathy for it. Im a huge Nissan guy I have a 88 single cab hardbody slammed with a engine swap. My daily is a 94 4x4 4dr pathy thats getting some susp and body lift. And I'm building a 4dr hardbody that's on the frame table in the garage now. Gonna be bagged and bodied with a JAG IRS with inboard disc and much more.
