Big thanks goes out to Chino63 (Dean) who waited on me patiently to scrape up the coin to get this little rig. He is the mad man behind the original build and its susp. Original build High Clearance CC-01 Power to the portal! I always loved these little Tamiya cco1 rigs and it was my first 4x4 truck but at the time i didnt know jack crap about crawling. But now with a couple of builds under my belt its time for another one. This little rig crawls unbelievablely well. As soon as i got it i had to run her to see what she could do on my backyard course. It went up all the normal lines with ease and then some!!!!! It out crawls anything i have driven so far. Ok well onto the pics My first outing First thing i did was get rid of those big ole ugly stock shocks and swapped them out for some threaded mrc shocks. They have longer stroke and comp more. The hardest thing for me on a build is to mount the body strong with out body posts and clips going through the body. So i fabbed up some mounts and bead blasted them at work along with the skids that needed to be freshened up a bit. Under the bottom skid plate I received my body and had to add some black paint to help with the scale look while mounted to the chassie. All fresh with new paint I added some RC4wd pro 10 wheels and they have a nice offset and makes it even wider then what she was but still has a nice stance. And after all bolted up the tires hold air and its pretty fun to drive with them like that. Rear body mounts I still have ALOT to do to her but she's getting there. Im also thinking about painting the portals black what do you guys think? Last edited by balln; 09-10-2011 at 09:36 PM. |

You will be very pleased with this rig. Chino brought that rig to one of our scaler comps last season and whipped us all with it. I was amazed with the workmanship and the lines it was pulling off. You got your self a winner! If it were me i would keep it class one spec and win every comp you enter |

I'm kind of relieved to know that I don't have to get schooled by that rig anymore. |

I ended up putting new springs on the front mrc shocks that i found at my local ACE hardware store they seem to do the trick. They are alittle stiff but i will give them time to break in. I also ordered up some parts to freshin up the rear link setup. When crawling it sounds like a old farm truck squeaking down the road. Also took out the 75T motor and put in a 45T integy till i find a brushless setup. Last edited by balln; 09-13-2011 at 11:41 AM. | |||||

Update time The old mrc springs up front where replaced with some ace hardware springs and then painted to match. stock one in middle I also took out the winch direction tube out and cleaned it up and put some fresh paint. I also had to extend it for the new body. The only thing that bothered me on this rig was the rear portals. They didnt match being green so i tore down the rear axle and freshened it up with fresh paint and greace. Then it was time to replace those squeaky rod ends with some mini heims from RC4wd. With the new wheels you cant let it sit on the tires for too long becuase they get flat spots with them holding air. So i made a stand at work on my dinner break. Front Rear Pics from last weekends GTG I was in front of the pack leading the trails and we came up to a pretty steep incline. It took me a couple trys to get my wheels positioned in the right place but it went 3 wheeling all the way up. Then behind me was a wraith with rear steer and all the goodies. And the owner DOES know how to drive!!!!! But for some reason the wraith wouldnt lock up and go. The pic is at a bad angle so it doesnt look that bad but the first part of the incline is pretty nasty with a under ledge. Never thought i would see a CCo1 winch a wraith I really learned some new driving skills with this little rig!!!! Im so use to my solid axles up front with a 4-link to relax down when its 3 wheeling. This rig doesnt do that but you find the right line it will crawl anywhere Last edited by balln; 09-20-2011 at 12:17 PM. |

Your rig does well. I had a good time on the trail, ready to go again. I learned a lot just being out there with you guys who have more experience.
