Default FJ40 Re-Build!!

So I picked up a barely used CC01 FJ40 from a friend. After asking a few questions around here I started to tinker with it and decided to make it my own! I'll keep posting photos here of the work!

Here is the truck as I got it. Bone stock. Ugly yellow.

I don't plan on doing much to it. Definitely a new body with my favorite Land Cruiser blue, scale accessories, some nice beadlocks and tires, and some nicer electronics!

I forgot to include the photo of the interior. It's a HOT MESS! Any idea on how to make this a cleaner looking ride would be greatly appreciated!

Some guys use a small plastic container and put all the electrics in there. Not only does it clean up the wires but it makes it water resistant.

Junfac has some nice upgrades for the CC-01 as well as GPM Racing. The first upgrade should be some scale rims and tires from RC4WD the 1.5's or 1.9's will work.

I would also upgrade the electronics. The stock ESC and motor are fine for beginners but at some point you will want a decent motor, ESC, and 2.4 GHZ radio. Most people run Novak 55T Rooster ESC/Motor combo for $100.00 and I am using the FS-GT3B 2.4ghz radio and its the best bang for your buck. Good luck and welcome to the hobby.

Here is my CC-01 if your interested A Grim Unimog Rescue

Any specific container? Someone had mentioned a Radio Shack "hobby box" but I have not gone to look into those yet.

I was looking at the four link/skid plate combo from Junfac and the steering upgrade and shocks from GPM. Is there anywhere in the US to get these?

Already have a set of RC4WD stamped steel wagon bead locks and tires on the way!

I was looking into a motor and ESC. It looks like Novak has discontinued the Rooster and now offers the Eiger and Terraclaw as their $100 option. Thoughts on it?

As far as a radio, I was given a Traxxas TQi and matching receiver to use for now. Can't argue with free!

Default Uh Oh.....I broke it...

So I took the FJ out for it's first run with it's new wheels and tires....

I lost almost all of the bolts on these two wheels! GONE! So small I couldn't find them!

So this leads me to two things. Obviously I did not tighten them enough. I used a pair of needle nose pliers and a allan wrench. Is there a better way to do this? Do they make sockets small enough for those bolts?

I need to contact RC4WD for more hardware....however in a earlier post I asked about sizes for new better hardware. Can anyone help me out with that?

Thanks! I know I sound like I don't know what I am doing. That's because I don't!
