Build it stock first. Learn how to get the most from your starting equipment. You are learning RC, and have a way to go before worrying about mods. The best part is, it's a fun journey when learning. Get to know your basics inside and out, then start worrying about mods. By then you'll understand the "why" behind the mods, and can make an informed decision.

Thanks for the reply. I'm keeping it stock afterall I hate to revive this thread, but can anybody recommend any websites/brands for good radios and receivers for the cc01? I checked out the flysky model derb recommended but want to have a selection to choose from. My budget for a radio and receiver is around £50/60 = $80/100 Edit: I also need some clarification on my knowledge on motors and gru's. I know that they need to be chosen with each other in mind. What I'm confused with is how the different gear ratios affect the driving. I've tried looking it up but can't seem to fully understand how they change the rc's driving? Also, what do the different turns on the motors do to the RC. My initial thought is the more turns on the motor, the faster the RC. And for the different geared ratios, that the higher the ratio, so for example the 4:1 GRUs allow you to drive slower, but does the alter the top speed also? Thanks. Yes. A 4:1 GRU lowers your top speed by 4 times. Example: If your current top speed is 20mph...adding a 4:1 GRU would change the top speed to 5mph |

More turns on the motor is actually slower with more torque.

| Re: Getting starting with a CC-01? To a point. Many have tried an 85t motor in the cc01 to find they struggle up hills. The stock silver can is something like a 27t motor. First and foremost you should upgrade to a 55t or so. Then a 4:1 gru depending on the terrain you have near you and how slow you want to climb. I prefer slower so I run a 55t+4:1 gru for more torque and realistic speeds crawling over obstacles. Better control in my opinion too. |
