Maybe its possible to do the "over the engine" side in a side with a loose brace..
I like the one-piece motor-side you have now. I would just make something similar looking for the right side except no need to raise the upper beam.

Not a fan of loose braces unless they really buy you something.

I sent the prototype to be test fitted to AlexG. I am waiting for his feedback.

I just sent AlexG an email to ask him if he has had time to mount the chassis.

I am sorry guys.

Alex has one chassis as does WAM, a similar chassis with a few minor changes. I also sent Dr Frank the blueprints as he wanted to cut out the chassis on his own. So there are a few out there but I have not heard back much from these people yet.

Right now I have no resources on my own to work on this. So it looks like this will be a slow process. So if you are looking for a chassis for the summer this may not be your best choice at the moment.

What should i say as Tomi said, things are running slow in the moment, but they are running

Chassis plates are milled (3mm CF) and i hack sawed a skid for it:

I also finished the axles, so making some links is next on the list, please be a bit more patient

...more to come...

Greetings Frank

It's Tomi's call, but from what I've seen so far with some test fit-ups and a mock-up, I would be comfortable recommending their sale as prototype designs. IE, you need to be able to build up a rig without a lot of hand-holding because all the answers aren't in yet. But I'm very impressed with the CF work and don't foresee any problems. I'm also getting ready for the WestCoast Shootout next week and didn't want to start a new chassis this close to a major event. So I've been dragging my feet, sorry.

I don't mean to speak for Alex, but last I talked to him he was having some link interference problems with the semi tranny flip -- don't know the details. But I think everything will fit fine with the full flip which centers the driveshafts (motor sticks pretty far out the window).

The skid needs to have the tranny mounting points recessed some to get the motor/tranny lower and I can help Tomi with that. But Tomi, you really won't be comfortable with that process until you get your Losi tranny pieces in. And to get maximum lowering, the builder will want to trim the excess motor plate around the lower edge of the motor and cut away the unused fourth mounting bracket from the plate. (You can see that big lump hanging down from the corner in Frank's last picture.)

I can't see were the "problem" is. If you run the Losi Chassis the shafts are a lot more "out of center" and there is no issue with the links. Tomi puts the motor as far as possible between the chassis plates, more then every AX10 chassis does.

I agree with you, the skid must get some "special" treatment. The fourth mounting bracket, no prob, cut it away.

Tomi is going the right direction

...and who elese is willing to produce a "new developed" LCC/LNC chassis

Greetings Frank

Q for those of you who know what the current skid looks like. What do you think about pocket milling the entire interior of the skid leaving no pads for the tranny? Then drill the hole pattern location that suits your needs and use appropriate length spacers between the skid floor and the tranny. You could pretty much put things laterally and vertically wherever you liked them.

@ WAM

I believe I used 8mm delrin for your skid plate. If I used 6mm plate instead, would that lower the tranny enough?

I do have the tranny parts at home now but right now no time to look into the chassis. I am very thankful to all of your input.

From a manufacturing point of view the "blank" skid plate is a very tempting suggestion. But may not be the ideal solution for everyone.
