Should have taken som photos before I installed the trans in the chassis,-but here goes :

The trans is made from two pieces of bent 2mm alu plate, joined together by an alu plate under the motor and two Axial 7x55mm posts above it.

The stainless 4mm shaft running over the motor is supported by two flanged 4x11 bearings,-the spur adapter is from Hot Bodies Cyclone, which is held in place by two set screws. Spur is Robinson 66t and the pinion is18t.

Since the spur shaft is only 4mm,I made an alu sleeve to match the WB8's

Thanks for the kind words everybody

Wheelspeed could be a little better,-have to try some different spur/pinion combinations. The motor is plenty strong on 3s.

How well does that work out with the extreme driveline angle? The plus is you have the motor as low as possible!

Yes,- I was a bit concerned about the angle, thats why I chose the cvd-type WB8. I believe they handle the angle better than the universal-jointed in example stampede type shafts. But time will tell,-so far so good

Nicely done, Jens! Me likely le Losi.

The Kyosho Rock Force has a similar very simple pinion and spur to driveshaft set up. I always had problems with the spur gear sheering teeth. I tried numerous brands of spur gears, but not metal. Nor did I try 32 pitch, but I bet that would have helped, now that I think about it...

Thanks

I have a lot of spare spur gears 32p would be a lot stronger,-but similar ratio in 32p with the limited space would be a 10t or 11t pinion,-and thats not optimal I think...........but I haven't tried it

Thanks for the input

Drilled out the senter of the wheel and made holes for the SLW hub,I'm using a spacer between the wheel and the hub,-4mm in the front and 2mm rear.

I know this is not about the wheels, but those are soooo bad. Thanks for the pix. But, I have some questions.

Did you grind out the hex that is in there? What width hubs are you running (Look Like 850s - Losi's? What is the spacer made out of? What is your width (tire to tire)?

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks in advance.

Nice, rig. Would love to see some video of that running.

I did not remove the hex, just drilled out the center, hope it will hold up
Yes,-the hubs are 850 losi's and the spacers are made out of some 2mm plastic sheet I had lying around. Just glued the sheets together before I cut them to make wider spacers.
The width tire to tire is about 260mm

Used this (27mm) to cut out the spacers, and a drill press and an old SLW hub to line up the holes

All the ideas where stolen from this thread :

Drill press rim mod's with VP hubs

The foam I'm using is not the closed cell type, it's the "old" double deuce,-but I'm very happy with it
