Default Best 4.5 (or slightly smaller) tire for comp use?

I'm building a Hilux truggy with a Tamiya shell. I am trying to keep it kinda low, and very scale. I'm finding that 4.5 inch tires are the max for this thing. Anything bigger than that will require raising the body or hacking more body out of the front. Plus, 4.5 already looks pretty goofy.

This rig was designed for Class 2 comps (TTC, G6 mostly) but I want something competitive. Is there any 4.5 inch tire out there than can hang with the bigger boys in class 2?

I have 1.55 and 1.9 wheels so either works.

Rockbeast

There really isn't another tire that works as well on everything. Every other tire I've seen works 'almost' as well. The only exception is dirt/mud.

Buy a set of 2stage foams too.

Proline TSL SX (not the XL) is a great tire for 4.3" tall. That would be my choice.

Only reason I dont like the Pitbull Rock Beasts are the pinholes I got in every tire. Water would get in and kill my foams. Maybe the newer ones have better sidewalls.

With what I've seen, the TSLs work better on loose dirt/mud, and that's it.

Your tires should be vented anyway.

Friend of mine runs the TSL SX on his and they're great, they really excel in loose dirt. The Rock Beasts are a little taller and excel on the rocks. Both are the top 2 tire choices for that size.

X2, I'd go Proline TSL SX 1.9 OG.

You are right, I have no clue what I'm doing in this hobby. If i vent them, I'm affraid all my BB's will fall out, then all rhat will be left to support my tires will be star cut foams.

I vote for the ProLine TSL Super Swamper or Pitbull Rock Beast.

Au contraire, grasshopper! I love my Rock Beasts, but ProLine TSLs are just as good and, IMO, probably a better overall tire.

Just use memory foam, that way everything can find its way home.
