you dont see ally brazed to often - atleast not on RCs. Im not saying it can not be done, just that I dont think I have seen it on here. And weather you heat the tube to bend it or not is up to you. Without seeing your bender I cant even guess what it is capable of doing.

Most people use either solid steel rod or brake line. Since you don't have an oxy setup I would suggest using brake line. It will heat up much faster.

MAPP gas will not get hot enough to get aluminum to flow, you need oxy/acetylene to make that happen.

You should be able to find it at most auto parts stores. Some brake line is coated, make sure you get rid of it before brazing, the fumes are toxic. Best if you do a search and read about using brake line.

Definitive not happening w/ MAPP gas, it takes oxy/acetylene, a very specific type of filler rod and a very specific type of flux. I've tried it at my local welding supply company, they are also an accredited welding school. I was asking the sales rep about some different blends of bronze filler rod that I use for brazing. When asked what I was doing with it, he wasn't even phased by it, apparently there are a lot of metal sculptors in the area with some using aluminum. I told him I didn't know that aluminum could be brazed, so he took me into the school area and let me try a few pieces. It was much more difficult for me to get the hang of it, the aluminum just goes from a solid to a puddle in the blink of an eye!

yeah that's not what we use in R/C but the harris silver solder....it's the % of silver in it that melts better then straight brass braze rod like that ....i used to use that stuff for iron railing work and oxy/acet set up to get the steel we used red hot to get that to flow.........bob

The rod in the link says it requires flux, did you get that as well? I couldn't see it well enough to read what material the rod is made from, does it say on the box? If it's copper coated steel you can forget about ever melting it w/ a MAPP bottle, you would need a TIG torch to melt it. I doubt that you would even be able to get brass rod to flow w/ your MAPP bottle. You will need to use some Safty-silv type of rod, somewhere between 30-50% silver content to get any strength from the joint.

you probably WON'T find what you need at a home improvement store. Look in the yellow pages and find a welding supply company near your house, they will have EVERYTHING that you need. You may even find the stuff at a commercial plumbing supply house, a lot of HVAC repairman use brazing equipment to make their repairs.
