Backyard courses are great! Mine was made by stripping out the giant weeds with a bobcat and dumping in a load of loam. All the rocks were dug up with the weeds, as well as a whole mess of slate tiles and rotting lumber. Good times! |

So, did some thinking and size comparisons..... track needed to be wider... MUCH WIDER!!!! i started with 4' (this part might even be 3') and then moved to 7 foot! this should allow plenty of room for racing and passing! Reading various threads and watching various videos - there seams to be a debate as far as "what width to make an rc track" the obvious answer is in relation to the vehicles running on it - but - most seem to be arguing about 6 foot or 8 foot - so screw it - i made mine 7 to fall in the middle. Granted the amount of room i have to work with i could do 12' wide but lets not get ahead of ourselves. |

You forgot to add 'divorce your wife' to that list. My wife is super cool, but shed shoot me if I took over the back 9. Granted, it's not just a bunch of weeds... But still. LOL

Ha I can one up all of y'all I received two written letters from HOA telling me to "remove construction debris and concrete rocks away from view" or else they will hire a clean up crew and bill me. Apparently they weren't too happy with my rock garden lol due to the fact my backyard has an iron gate about 30' from the sidewalk. Must have been some nosy neighbors wondering what the heck is that?! Moved it all to the patio took 4 hours lol. Much cleaner layout now but no path to trail on anymore! And no mud pit! From this: Now it's all over the patio 30' x 15' saved 4 pallets to stack rocks over threw the rest away. |

| Re: How to make your own backyard Rc track This would actually be an interesting topic (unless it's already been done before). A thread with pictures of rock crawling courses that look like typical landscaping. Kind of a stealth course so to speak.

More progress - its been raining like crazy out here! hope to get back in to the swing of things (literally) over the next couple of days. When we went to look at this house to buy - one of my wife's first comments was "where are you going to put your track?"... love that woman! I think part of it is that i met her while out wheeling in my 97 XJ... This is the view from up on the back deck. (which when we rebuild my wife wanted to know if i was going to work in a drivers stand into the stairs going down!) I felt dumb because i had not thought of that! |

I'm waiting for someone from the forum with a bulldozer to offer to come by and make that "clearing the sod" work a little easier for you! I'm excited to see how this turns out.
