Default When tinkering what do you SIT on?

So this may sound like an odd question but when working on RC cars what do you guys sit on? Reason I ask is I recently picked up a work bench which I love! But I'm getting an extremely sore shoulder/neck after a few hours of tinkering. I know it's because I'm constantly hunched over and looking down.

So what do you work at/sit on to prevent shoulder/neck fatigue?

Thanks!

I am currently sitting on a normal office chair. But when my room is done I'm getting one of those gaming chairs. That might help. I definitely recommend a chair which allows you to change height.

This hot mess right here:

I've had this chair for close to 20 years. I used to sleep in it when I worked third shift, and when they got rid of them I took it home. (the new chairs sucked) It is to this day the most comfortable office chair I've ever sat, slept, or worked in, and has help up amazing over the years. It's getting rough around the edges, but it's still comfy.

Getting your seating height/workbench height right is very important. I figured out the best seating position for me, and then built my workbench to size. I believe it's 39.5" tall. I do have a standing bench I can work at too when I get tired of sitting.

Hmm, Sitting. I like this idea.

I don't have a picture of it but my work bench is high and I stand, it's the perfect height for that..

Great subject, I have several height adjustable office chairs, some I bought, but most I got free when our office upgraded and was going to roll them out by the dumpster lol.

X2 I adjust to different heights depending on what I'm working on.

Comfort is what counts! You did it the best way, get seating height proper and build bench accordingly, nice to have standing work area too.

It may also help to have a bench that allows you to slide your chair under it while you work. You would be leaning forward much less which may help. I have an old cloth office chair at home and both of my benches allow me to "belly up" to the front edge of the bench when seated.

My seat definitely isn't good for the neck and shoulders but it looks cool! The best option for me was buying an anti fatigue mat, raising my bench to roughly belly button height and working standing up.

This 55 yr old fart generally sits on the ground or floor.
creaky old bones, sagging skin and all.

I'll usually stand if I'm using my work bench.
But I'm only using that for the machining tools that are mounted on it.

Guess I'm too poor to own a dedicated luxury box (work table) or chair

I been working on one of our washing machines until I finish doing shelves, cupboards and pallets to make room for a work area. It's bullshit on the washing machine. The other night I dropped a tiny lil pin from the wheel end, down inside the machine. T.f it didn't go under the agitator etc and a long magnet saved me. Maybe I got a pic of the offending gap. Right at the end of the job it was too. Putting the last wheel on at like, 11 pm at night. My neighbors would have heard me. Probably woke the kids up too, upstairs. Everyone should have a comfy place to tinker, but so many of us just make do, I guess.

I built a table that is about 24" high and use those big bouncy ball things that that my wife uses for ab situps and other workouts. You can see those balls in the pics below. Only thing is I have to pump it up every few days as it slowly loses air.
Supposedly it works your core muscles while just sitting because you're balancing yourself the whole time without even knowing it, which is good if you're into that sort of stuff

But with the ball and low table height I can tinker all night long and not feel the effects of the neck/shoulder strain b/c I'm not hunched over.

My kids playroom has been taken over!
