| Pliers
I'm thinking about picking up some new pliers and was just curious what everyone else likes or prefers. What are your favorite pliers? Brand, type, length? I seem to primarily use a needle nose and a diagonal cutters. I currently have a set of 7" Channellocks which are too too large for most of my RC use. I have 5" Craftsman precision pliers set as well, which is almost on the small side for me. I do have a 150mm (just under 6in) Knipex Pliers Wrench that I use quite a bit on RC. It seems to be a good size for me. I use this a lot on my buggies for turnbuckles, or just anything that I don't want to mar. I was thinking going for 6" pliers in needle nose and diagonal cutters. I actually have a few Craftsman pliers that are 6" but they are so stiff and get stuck while opening\closing them that I want to throw them as soon as I start using them. Oh and I also have a VRP shock pliers, which I think a shock pliers are a must have. I was thinking maybe Knipex 70 01 160 Diagonal Cutters and Knipex 3021160 Long Nose Pliers. Knipex Tools 08 21 145 6" Needle Nose Combination Pliers looks interesting as well. |

I can tell you that knipex are the best pliers the world over. You won't find better pliers made by anyone. I use them for work and have some for home use too. That being said I have a set of husky mini pliers that I got from Home Depot years ago that I use for my rc cars. They are similar to what the craftsman precision pliers are. But if you want to get new pliers knipex are hands down the best.

I have good pliers in the garage, but I wanted a set of small ones for working on the RCs. I bought a 3 pack from Home Depot that came with small needle nose, small cutters and a set with stubby flat jaws. All are spring loaded and work great. The set was under $10 if I recall.

I got sick of using pliers for lock nuts, lol. 5.5mm open end wrench for the win.
