Had a few specific questions for you about what kind of mods you have to make to either the Sc8 roll cage or stock summit body mount posts in order to get this cage to fit. Any further detail in the above would be much appreciated. I am thinking about giving this a try. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

HeySactownsummit. To start with, I originally had this body on my HPI Apache SC Flux. And I had the Gorilla tape job done at that time. Here's what it looked like on the apache. I like it much better on the Summit I did not mod the summit body posts at all. The rear is very easy as the posts are just a fraction of an inch off of the body holes in the cage I just had to dremel the rear holes a bit inwards for a good fit The front holes don't line up in the right spot so I just fudged them I sandwiched a piece of lexan between the camo upper gorilla tape, and the black under gorilla tape.....then bored holes with a dremel. You can see in this pic where the factory front holes are compared to the ones I made There's probably a hundred ways that are neater and better than my way....but I had the gorilla tape on already before I thought of trying this cage for the summit. But it has held up great. |

The firewall has to be trimmed also to get the cage to fit nice and low.

| Quote: Awesome. Thanks for all the feedback and info. I agree with you looks amazing on the Summit. Think I will give this a try! I will probably use your mounting system up front as well. Sounds like you are having good luck with it as I read you say the durability is good. How are the panels from Tcs crawlers holding up for you? Think I will give them a try as well and find some custom paint. Love your camo job as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have not ordered the TCS panels....I really like the rough gorilla tape look. It looks like tarp panels IMO... The rear bumper is from a Traxxas slayer pro....it's a direct bolt on. I just like the look of it. It also acts as a wheelie bar when I swap my Tekin brushless system in once in a while but nowadays I mostly run the Dewalt. ....but the stock bumper will work fine with this cage too. |

Ahhh cool thanks for the clarification. I see what you did now the camo is gorilla tape not paint. Wow I must be blind. Lol. May try that for panels first. Great all around look! Has the gorilla tape panels held up well to roll overs? I guess if you damage it you can just tape it up. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Gorilla tape is extremely tough and holds up really well if applied correctly. Make sure to put it on sticky side to sticky side . I used camo on top and black underneath. The edges are a little rough....so I'll probably redo the tape in the near future ....but this held up a lot of high speed brushless bashing and jumps when it was on my Apache Flux. Much more abuse thana Summit would put it through. Here's another pic on my Apache with 3.8 badlands. |

Looks great. Will Definitely try the gorilla tape and lexan sandwich route before I order the panels from TCS. I REALLY like the camo look. I think you found gold there. Looks amazing. Thanks for all the pictures and info again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Both are installed....and both need some trimming. But it's worth doing because they keep quite a bit of crud out of the chassis. It will be obvious to you where they need trimming after they're installed and you try to put the cage on the truck. I'll take a picture later that shows the snide of the body.

Have you considered narrowing some wheels?

Nah....I don't really see point. I'm happy with my tires on regular wheels.

Just wanted to say to the original poster thanks for the SC8 roll cage idea and also appreciate you answering my questions that helped my SC8 install in my Summit. I went a little different route and made my own sheet metal panels instead of using gorilla tape, but that was only because I wanted a metal look. I also installed a 6" Gear Head LED light bar on top and also retrofit an Axial Poison Spyder interior for use as the SC8's roll cage interior. Fit just great with some trimming and remounting of the dash. I am so happy with the results and can't wait to get some free time to get her back out in the trail. Wow that looks awesome!! Love the panels on the inside of the cage. .....what did you do, bend the plastic cage to give it that dented in look? Looks absolutely killer!! Very low center of gravity too.

I sleeved the hood braces 5mm longer after cutting them and bend the tip of the hood down with a little heat.

Love the body mods here, guys. Tape panels are genius. And seems like a Ken doll is a must.

Wow! Some cool looking Summits. That SC8 cage looks like it is a stock part. Nice. Might do this mod myself sometime. This mod might even look better with the Summit LT mod and some 2.2 scale looking wheels. Verstuurd vanaf mijn K00E met Tapatalk |
