Default Summit as a dedicated crawlee

Hi

Have the traxxas summit, did drive i stock for a time, changed it to a brushless machine, but will try to change it back to brushed.

Have bought the kershaw design 55t motors 2, fittet them with a e maxx motor mount.

Have lock the diff with the trx spool, so what could I do next? Too make it a better crawler.

If you haven't change the shock oil for some lighter weight stuff. And get some softer springs.

You coulda had a V8

A Dewalt 14v has plenty of torque and would sit lower in the chassis than the twin motors mounted on an emaxx motor mount plate. Also look for some flexible wheels, the best crawling tires I have seen are the stock canyons and losi claws. Mudslingers have nice grip as well. T- bone skid plates work great. Do the no slop tranny upgrade for better maneuverability on hills and rocks. Upgrade your evx2 for a mamba max pro for the drag brake and increased programming features. Weight down the front tires.

Traxxas spool? Those things are known to break under serious power. I would have stuck with the stock locking diff and upgraded the gears to hardened steel gears from LEM ( about $30)

Thx noir, have a hobbywing set I could use 2000 kv, but went back to the stock esc because it is waterproof. I bought a 72t spur for the summit but it is plastic.

Yes I do know that the weight in front is a problem, what do people use for weights? I plan on running the stock tires that came with the truck. The truck out of the box is pretty god, but believe it can be better with the sugestions that are mentioned.

There is no east way to weight the front. I tried doing the wheels but all that rotating mass broke a lot of axles. I have seen some guys cast there own knuckle weights out of fishing weight.

My battery didn't fit in my battery box so I taped it onto the front body post , looked strange and weighted down the nose but boy did it help with hill climbs. That was an intentional benefit.

Option for front end weight gain. No rotating mass, and the weight is still low.
