Smile Soya's maxx is going solid.

Yeah that's right Soya's E-maxx is being converted to solid axle. I'm helping with the build up of this truck because I have the cutting tools. So far I've made a servo mount that bolts to the bulk head. A new shock tower/link mount that lock the arms in place with links. We are planning on using 1/8 x3 square tubing for the chassis. More to come later as the project moves on.

Here is what I drew up for a design. We are trying to figure out where to put the battery.

Here is one nearly complete axle. We just need to work on the steering linkage and lower link mounts.

Heres a view of the custom mounts.

looks good so far.. like the top post for the links... i wouldn't put the battery on the side, unless you plan on putting a GD600 on it also. that way you can clock the motor off to the opposite side and mount the other stuff on that side to help balance out the weight

Well I made the steering links today. The Ackerman angle is way off so it looks like I need a redesign. I made the lower link mounts they bolted right up fine.

So far all of the pieces where cut with a hack saw. Then I sanded them with my belt sander. The only thing I made on the mill is the upper link knob thing. I used my lathe to make the links and the drill press to drill the holes

I still have not started on the chassis. Soya was working on it last week hopefully we will get it cut.

Picture of the lower link mounts they bolt in the arms lower shock mounts.

View of the steering.

View of the crappy Ackerman angle.

You might want to have one link go from tire to tire. You could bend it up for clearence.

You really need to clean that workbench ;)

I know what to do to fix the steering, but I can't describe it very well so I'll show you tomorrow.

Soya came over and cut the chassis. We will mill more out later for weight reduction.

It's a good idea to start from a square tube to build the frame!!!!

DITTO! Why didn't I think of that? Let's see some more pics after it's been heavily milled for weight reduction. Lemme guess, is it 4" square tubing, .125 wall? Just curious.

Nope it's 3" .125 its the same stuff I used for my clod chassis. Soya was over so we finished the other axle. Soya fixed the steering he made a link bent for clearance. I made the transmission/motor mounts and we started on the links.

Yeah we should get the truck done by next week for sure if not this week. We just have to drill the holes for the links in the chassis. Then bolt up a bunch of stuff.

Well here is some pictures of the stuff we did last week.

Soya made a skid plate for the back axle.

Soya made the bent steering link.

We figured how long of links where going to need.

Today I polished four of the links after finishing tapping and studing them.
