I'm completely sure, but I was understating it for humorous effect.

So buy a TRX-4 and put a Jeep body on it. Problem solved.

I gotta admit, the nostalgia affect of the custom paintwork and it's overall look and it's really good. Even better than the Ascender Blazer.

My BIL sold Fords for about 15 years - a DIE HARD Ford truck guy. I had one too, a F250 high-boy, they are really great full size rigs.

We used to tow the kids behind the bronco in the snow on innertubes. - just to give you an idea of how far back we go on this old truck stuff.

One of the young sales guys took a demo out four-wheeling and rolled it. Man, that guy got in a lot of trouble!! LOL

Some steps are pre-built, the more difficult for what Traxxas assumes their average buyer will be, which is Traxxas owners with limited kit experience. It's aimed to make everyone happy, not just the avid RC and crawler guys and girls, which will make crawlers mad.

Least? Maybe when stock. Has the capability to fit down right trails, more reliable.... the list goes on.

Well if you're talking about modified capabilities, then I'm sure there are stellar examples of rock crawlers/bouncers built on the stripped-down frames of all the popular "real" (i.e. body-on-frame) small SUVs. But where do you draw the line between modified vs. custom-built? Is it as long as the frame is stock, or does the bodywork, axles, transmission, or other stuff like that need to be factory parts too?

Simple upgrades like lifts and tire sizes. Otherwise a stock TJ/LJ, CJ, YJ, etc... don’t “crawl” well, but neither do long, wide Wrangler JKs. They all have their ups and downs. Except for that YJ. Ugly.

Oh I will.
This Bronco brought me back, to a younger time. I local guy Dallas had a 79, jacked to the hilt, with 44" Super Swampers. Thing was bitchin' just damn cool. It was Yellow and white. Back in the late 70's and early 80's around these parts, everyone who was anyone had a lifted truck. They looked goofier than shit when they put the skinnies on for winter...
Shure do miss those days. My plan is to mimic Dallas's Bronco, but not yellow and white.

My JK is shorter than your LJ by quite a few inches, and a mere 6" wider stock, 3" of which is just plastic fenders that move. Then once either of us install actual capable tires the width is less than an 1" difference.

JK and JKU are different, much like the school bus TJU (it's not an LJ) is different in capability to the TJ. I don't know how a TJ or JKU is more capable with their turning radiuses, 500 reverses in a tight trail.

Maybe your JK is more capable, I love most jeeps, but I may be biased to mine because I own one, and yes I know it is TJU, It is just more commonly known as an LJ. I still was able to tackle a trail faster than a lifted JK on 35s when I had a a 2 inch lift and 32s on my TJ.

Goddamn the Jeep humpers even have to ruin a Bronco thread with their "It's a Jeep thing!" nonsense.

I'm a Chevy guy. I like the Bronco.

Jeep drivers are to the off-road world what Harley guys are to the motorcycle world. It's not "real" unless it's a Jeep or a Harley. Yeah OK assless chaps boy.

+1

That body is awesome! I bought the TRX-4 Defender a couple months ago and kinda wish I waited. I guess the only thing going for the defender is the exocage, spare wheel and scale bits.

I'd imagine this will crawl a bit better out of the box since it won't be as top heavy as the defender.

I was hoping Traxxas would offer a conversion kit for us current TRX-4 owners? I'd definitely buy that. Body+links (for the shorter wheelbase)+Chrome wheels, diff cover+inner fenders? Everything else seems the same on the TRX-4.

I believe they do have plans to release a link kit for shortening the wheelbase and all of the other parts should be up for sale too, you'll likely have to piece this together yourself though.

Heh. My dad calls that truck the "Suzuki Kamikaze", because it's so unstable when cornering.
