Default TRX4 Sport Motor Mount Question

Hi all, I'm building the Sport kit. The motor seems to have several MMs of play in it. I know there are lots of you that run the stock set up so can I assume that slop isn't a problem? It seems that the pinion gear would be held at a slight angle to the spur gear. Also, it is difficult to ensure the mesh is good after the gear cover is installed.

The kit also has a lot of plastic to plastic joints. Unfortunately I'm one of those guys that tightens his screws about 1/2 a turn too far.

Is there a solid, direct, bolt-on upgrade for the motor mount that takes out the slop AND replaces the plastic gear cover with a metal one, as well as the brace?

Thanks,
Mr. Pickles

There are a number of aftermarket aluminum TRX4 motor mounts out there. Search ebay and Amazon.

The play in the motor bothers me as well. I just got a Traxxas aluminum motor plate, but the cover is still plastic so I have play.

If I was ever going to get a metal motor cover I'd probably try the GRC version. More about that here: GRC motor mount?

I've got one of the unbranded grc type from ebay mounted on mine. It works well.

I have one of those GRC motor mounts as well and it is a really solid mount. It is easy to see and adjust the gear mesh.

I just put this Hot Racing mount on my Sport. It's identical to the stock motor mount.
