So parts being available and shipped is a small inconvenience compared to last year. Lol

Dude, that’s the worst!

Well it is alive, sort of :(

I got to the point to were you are at testing the electronics in my build
Traxxas receiver 2 channel 1's for the steering servo??
this kind of messed me up!

Ok Problem 1
the mamba X has an RX wire to go into the receiver it only has one white wire on it. the traxxas receiver does not have a Throttle #2 slot, what do I do

Problem 2 The mamba x at start up has three short beeps, this on the sheet says Sensors Lost.
The ESC detected unusual signals or loss of signal on the sensor cable coming from the motor. I did check and rechecked the wire from the motor to the ESC.
I have unplugged it at both ends and re-plugged it back up. I still get the three beeps

Problem 3 I do not know if the is a Problem or not but the led is not green but kind of orange, it does turn green when you apply throttle.

ok is the transmissions on the trx 4 noisy ?? like annoying noisy!
I am going to disassemble the trany tomorrow and use the stock plastic case
and not this aluminum case I got, see what that does

I am thinking about pulling the receiver out of the Optima it is a 6 channel fly sky fs-gt5 and put it in this trx4 and use the trx4 on the optima??

the v-8 motor cover/motor fan has a 2 pin plug for power and I have no clue as to were to hook this up at.
You can see the amber light on the ESC? that should be green??

Well with the stock trany center gear case it is a lot quieter!

The 9t pinion for the holmes 2700kv motor is in hole A this seems to be lose?
there is just about a 1/16 of play between the gears. Is this right?

That sounds fine, but stock gear mesh is hole D if I remember correctly.

Try it on hole D and if it feels too tight go back to A or B.

not using the stock 11t pinion I got a 9t pinion
as per the book for a 9t pinion it says hole A.
If I go to hole B or C or D holes there is less contact the higher you go up
D the gears do not touch

I’ve ran the 9t pinion on 3 motors in Hole A and have had no issues.

I also did the paper trick for setting mesh between pinion and spur, again no issues.

If possible I would put the stock Traxxas motor plate up to the aluminum aftermarket one to make sure the holes are identical in the aftermarket one compared to stock. That way you know that there is nothing wonky going on.

Hi Benp,

I look on with interest but can't figure out what shock tower plate you have in the photo you posted. Would you please let me know?

Hi Bill F,

If you haven't resolved your problem below, you need a servo Y-harness for Channel 3 which is the high/low speed mini servo. One end goes to the receiver, and the 2 connectors on the other end will connect to the single signal cable from the Mamba X and the mini servo.

Ok Problem 1

the mamba X has an RX wire to go into the receiver it only has one white wire on it. the traxxas receiver does not have a Throttle #2 slot, what do I do.

Hello
mine is in hole A. But how do you set the mesh between the pinion and spur gear when your set screws on the motor mount are set in the A hole??
Ya that sounds bad A hole????? in a way I'm sitting here busting a nut over this post

I would like to set this gat to what I was told by the place in Albany hobby shop and that was with a piece of paper! as it is now I think I can get 8 or 9 pieces of paper between the gears.
is there some trick to setting this up??
Yes I thought of that the aluminum plate might be off drilled but I looked and they all look the same so?

As for the shock mounts? they mount on the fender wells.
not like your picture I did now mods here but I did get the traxxas narrow fender wells as I did not want to cut and Dremel the new stock fenders

As for the Mamba x 3 beeps according to the book on the mamba x the 3 beeps at startup is how many cells in the battery that it is hooked up to
I think that is what it is? I hope that is all that it is.

as for the led lights, amber is armed and ready when green you are going forward and red is reverse.

My eye are mad at me for making them read so much they are giving me a headache and a bad one at that

As for now I am just going to play with this TQI remote as is
and figure what else I want to add! I do want lights! I would like to get this motor fan working to keep the motor cool

So when I get get enough guts to tackle putting in the Flysky GT5
into this Heavy brick on wheels there should be enough channels to do all this?

With the new holmes motor this thing was going in reverse, so I did the reverse channel on the TQI remote to still have the red light on the Mamba X when going forward. So I drank two bottles of JACK and a Mt Dew with a Lynchburg lemonade chaser and when my eye's got al blurry I hooked this mamba x up to my computer, after hours of trying to figure out what plugs into what, then with twitching shaking fingers did some reversing on the motor and throttle curve then clicked that dam update button
Hell it worked going forward is now green, reverse is red and stopped doing nothing armed and ready amber.

The paper trick is used on adjustable sliding motor mounts. Put a piece of paper between pinion and spur. You want to be able to pull the paper out with a touch of resistance.

With the motor mounted in the “A” holes for 9/45 setup, I put a piece of paper between pinion and spur when I locked things down. It pulled out with a bit of resistance and I want to say the the pinion/spur rotated a tooth or 2 when I pulled the paper out.

I would most likely say your mesh is fine. Only way to find out is put it through its paces.

The mamba x.

The motor in the trx runs in reverse rotation. You set this in mamba tuning. I think the tab is “motor direction” and the choices are forward or reverse. Choose reverse.

I highly highly recommend you watch Holmes videos regarding tuning the mamba x. He goes over everything. My rigs are tuned verbatim to this.

https://youtu.be/1r8y_hJjjKU

https://youtu.be/6wvH4A_VqTs

I had no issues running the mamba x and stock traxxas radio before my fly sky came.

The mamba x start up sequence.

1. First and foremost. Make sure the radio is powered on before connecting batteries/turning on esc.

2. The startup chimes. Mine goes something like this.

https://youtu.be/R5tWn8TO9UU

I run 3s batteries.

Once you hear this sequence a hundred times or so, anything out of the ordinary chime wise is instantly obvious.

I hope this was helpful.

One other bit of advice.

Anytime you become stumped, frustrated or a combination, just stop and walk away. Come back to it at a different time with new eyes, even if they’re bloodshot.

I’ve done this a lot and when I came back, what was fighting me was now a non issue.

Keep after it. I’m really interested to see your rig on the rocks.

Then it starts all over again. Lol

Thanks Benp

That is what I do when stumped walk away go do something else then come back. I am in no hurry in my build! After going through all the stuff I had to do to rebuild that optima and trying to figure it all out, I just want to do things on my trx 4 right the first time.
on the Mamba X three beeps in there books says sensor problems. never got to the part about startup beeps. the old brain said " what did you do now? "
oh well .

There is a thread in the electronics section that is a similar situation. Might want to check that out

Thank you Benp
the mamba x sounds just like the youtube video so i think everything is fine.
just not use to warning bells or in this case Beeps.
I got everything working, So i am going to put the flysky gt5 in this, best to get use to one of the remotes. When i get that done then tidy up the wires and then start putting the rest of it together
I do not think i will get this done soon as i have to have anther dam surgery, so one are will be glued to my waist for 6 weeks, not looking forward to this misery again!
have to get the outside stuff done before dooms day.
also trying to find a puppy to have something to do so might as well train a new family member if i can find one! I messed up big time training my wife!
I must of misread the book "how to train your wife for dummies"

Looking good!

I highly recommend this front bumper!

It’s so much better than my stock sport bumper.

Bump and glide. Inexpensive too.

ETA -

About your sticky shocks. I would run them a bit first so all of the surfaces get mated and broke in.

If there is still issues then, there is a thread at the top of the Trx4 section about sticky shocks.

Has anyone done the Pro rebuild on the GTS shocks? Worth it?
https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/top...ink_source=app

When I was running the traxxas shocks I would push the rig down a couple times before running it to get everything working. Never had an issue then.

But if it sat for a day or longer, sticky right off the bat

This is what i picked for the bumpers. I was not liking the stock stuff,
but Aluminum bumpers are what is mostly available. As for the weight added
to the truck on the suspensions side?

The front bumper came with two lights sort of like fog lights out at the end of each side. As for the off road lights they have the parts so you can add led lights to them but not clear light covers

Size: 127.1 KB

The rear bumper I think stuff can be added later as there are holes predrilled.
The only thing i do not like is the D-rings on front and back are not the same!
For me a matching set, I will try to find down the road.
