Default SSD Portal Delete Kit

Just wondering if anyone can comment on their experience with the SSD Portal Delete Kit and what modifications they made to use it successfully without burning out their motors etc.

I swapped to a 9t pinion and run 4.6" tires... never had a problem. Never use second gear anymore though, just too tall w/o the gear reduction in the portals.

Initially outrunner, then stock, now running a Holmes Crawlmaster 550 15t

Good reading, PDK install begins on post 83: OSRC's TRX-4 Defender "Greybeard"

I don't know if you're still looking for experiences or not but I run my TRX4 without portals as well.
HW Axe R2 2800kv, 9t pinion (previously a HH puller pro 3200, iirc), 4.19 RC4WD Patigonia tires, YR aluminum axles for a bit of weight.
My number tip, if you're going to run brushless (granted, my motor is probably overkill) be prepared to learn to deal with or tune out a lot of torque twist.
