Looks great! I’m waiting for my box to show up, hopefully this week.

Thanks. Cleaned up the wiring, don't have the Rx installed yet. Need to setup the steering servo. No dig or od for this rig I may set it up later, its locked in low od for now. No tape on the ESC but its secure. This way I can plug into it easier I noticed when pulling out the plug protector and reinstalling it, it was a pain.

Wheels came waiting on rubber. A few extra items too.

I had a feeling that I would have a similar problem that B-MOW71 had with his wheels and the VP 12mm stepped down hexes. I was right, the VP 12mm stepped down hexes will only let the wheel engage about 2.5/3mm just up to the set screw. So I ordered Gmade aluminum 12mm wheel hexes "8mm" after figuring out what offset I needed. My rubber should be here tomorrow too.

Nice curious to see how those wheels work out. I was looking at those or the boom racing steelies as a possible next set of wheels.

Here is a closer view of the wheels. The finish is bare metal, I just took a look at a set of Boom Racing 1.9 steelies and they do have a better looking finish. These wheel will work no problem but I'll need Gmade hexes to match the wheels. I plan to paint the inside of the wheels black and the outside that you can see looking through the face plate that is black dessert sand to match the body.

I painted the wheels black on the inside and dessert sand on the outside so when you look through the holes in the face plate the dessert sand matches the body. Now I have a set of each Hyrax with predator and Krawler T/A KX with G8.

The wheels look nice. I've never used the Gmade wheels on my rigs.

Why doesn't the stock VP hexes work with these wheels?

The wheels don't have removable hubs and aren't stepped inside to match the hex. The wheels will go on but only up to the set screw of the hex. So I ordered Gmade 12mm hex at 8mm thickness that are flat to the outside. They will be here today, I'm waiting by the window drinking coffee.

I was looking at those wheels instead of my black rhino rc4wd wheels. Honestly thought they were plastic though said metal lol. Must be cast.

I think there cast due to the pigment and the way they have built in hubs. That would also explain why I had to clean up the lug nut holes with a pin vise. There nice and heavy, can't tell you how much they weigh the only scale I have is a RCBS reloading scale. Grains not grams could convert but the wheels are too heavy for the scale.

Ah, I see that they do not use the hex with step. Makes sense!

I have had cheapy alum hexes that I just cut off the steps. I wouldn't want to do that to the VP's though.

If I did that, I wouldn't have the offset needed. It's close enough now.

Where did you find the GMade hexes?

I just remembered I had a set just like yours but in white on my Trx4 I just sold. They were a solid inexpensive option.

From Gmade, they also make crawler kits. Gmade is in South Korea. So google Gmade hexes and order from USA or wait two weeks shipping.

Thanks, I’ll keep it in mind. Not sure when I’ll get new wheels, but good to know about the hex issue.

Good day for painting, still drying. I didn't mask the rear lights, I have a plan.
