In order to get offset outputs, and keep it scale size I don't think you'll be able to get much reduction.

It would be cool if they could give us a center output also. It would eliminate torque twist issues. Have a offset for the wraith axles.

In either case I'm sure they've got this situation under control

Look at most t-cases, the rear output is inline and the front output is offset.

Your right that's so you can clear the tranny with the driveline. But it would be awesome to have a center front and rear output for center diff axles like the scx./rc4wd, It would eliminate torque twist, any offset on the drivelines will create torque twist, I think if they had an Ls style engine with atlas looking tranny it would be awesome. I'm gonna have to hound Jim and Steve to get them going.

a nice scale drivetrain is the one thing i having been dying to get since we got burned by eritex.... simple, strong, and scale are the three things that i would like to see. the rc4wd r3 and hammer t case are not quite scale enough but i got them for my build because there are NO other options that are scale enough for my tastes. if you guys could hit a price point of around 400 bucks or less i would definately buy one (but probably a couple).

im glad this thread popped up and i hope it gets enough attention to get these things started

thanks harley... for pushing the idea... and #$%^ geremy for screwing us on the eritex motors... i hope i run into him someday

i would look at the t2f setup and see what could be done to improve on it...

one thing about the tf2 tcase is you can flip it around to have an offset and overdriven front output.

i would do this:

motor>planetary gear reduction with 2 or 3 speeds>tcase with a slight bit of reduction. and you could offer up different planetary units (4:1, 3:1, 2:1) depending on peoples gearing.

pretty much the tf2 setup but with a planetary replacing the pinion/spur.

A scale drive train would be very nice. Especially with a lockable diff in the transfer case

And can everyone post up what they prefer in pinion/spur combinations on a ax-10 rig? Since if it is done, I would like it to be designed to the most popular configurations.

Nothing is set in stone. Just doing a little research to see if it was viable, And worthwhile.
run a poll in the general crawlers section to gauge the interest... might be pretty surprising...

X2 on lockable diff..... Either lever style servo operated or cooler would be pull style using wire pull or something similar!!!!!

on my three scalers i run 18/87

if you do go for it a LS powerglide atlas combo is going to be the easyest sell. but if you did a 22r or 3rz to w56 dual cases i would finally break down and build a toyota.

A 2-speed tans, t-case, drive shafts, and no-slop lockers would be SCHWEET.
I'd be in for at least two of everything.

Yes Please do it! I am not a scale fanatic but have been interested in doing a scale-like running gear for some time because I think a centered up front motor/trans and central transfer case offers some interesting functional advantages.Heck, its a configuration that has been working for one-scale for ever! Things to consider are: ratio change capability in the T/C (this may make it not to scale as it will have to be wider, I suspect); centered motor between the rails; no spur; integrated dig (in the T/C?).
To do all this you may need a couple of versions but I know you guys are up to the task and whatever you do will be awesome!
So, when can I place my order???

I would love to have a nice LS looking engine/tranny and t-case for a southern buggy build
