Default Rear wheels spinning freely

After my recent trail run I'm having an issue with my Ascender. When I spin the rear wheels by hand, they spin freely ( with the rear drive shaft), and do not engage the front tires. But when I spin the front tires, the rear tires engage.
Am I right to believe there's an issue in the transmission? If so, anyone know what it might be?

Sounds like the set screws on your driveshaft cups loosened up.

I concur. Your set screw came loose on the driveshaft yoke at the trans.

The output shaft on the transmission is a one piece shaft that powers the front and the rear. And I don't think you can break it. So the next option to check is the set screws at the tranny output.

Thanks guys. I'm new to the hobby so this forum is super helpful. I'll check it out tonight, hopefully it's a nice easy fix.

Hey Smonkman, my set screw came loose last weekend on my rear driveshaft. If this is the same for you, it's a simple fix. Just take a look at where your driveshaft connects to the tranny. There's a little set screw that attaches the driveshaft to the transmission output (has a flat side the screw tightens to). Make sure that screw is tight, and make sure it's hitting on the flat side of the output, otherwise it will just spin.

Same thing happened to me when I first started running my RTR. Tightened up the set screw, but came loose a couple weeks later. Just put a small drop of threadlock on the screw and won't come loose again. Good idea to do the front too if you don't carry many tools with you when you go out to run it away from home.
