Default What motor and battery after you guys running?

I have a Holmes 27t on a 2s tiny pack and oh my God is it slow. I have an scx10 ii with a 21t goolrc motor and it's just fine on 2s, gets a tad warm though, like 180-190 degrees

My buddy had a 3s he let me use today and it was better but still pretty slow. So what motor, pinion, battery combo do you guys run?

I'm a low and slow guy. My 1.9 I'm running stock 35t motor and esc on 2s. I even dropped the pinion to 12t from 14t. I do have the 2 speed for when I'm trailing or need wheel speed. My stock motor is finally getting tired after over 2 years of use. Thinking for dropping to 45turn sealed can for a little more torque and less speed. So I guess this isn't helping you lol. My 1.55 truck has a HH crawlmaster 16turn on 3s. Same 12t pinion and 2 speed. I'm running the 3.8" rockbeasts so it's not fast either but fast enough for me.

I'd say you want brushless system for speed or a good esc like a Holmes or cadrle that'll take 4s and put the battery right to it for more speed and power. You can keep the pinion down and rely on voltage to keep speeds up and heat down.

Brushless is too expensive for me. For a good brushless system you're at 200+ easy. You can get decent brushed setups for like $65

looks like my combo right now is going to be a 20t RC4WD motor and 3s compact battery.

if this combo works well for me (haven't really tested it yet), i'll upgrade to a higher quality motor when this one goes caput.

540 Crawler Brushed Motor 20T

I'd like a higher capacity battery pack, but with the ascender battery tray, that's about the best I can find in 3s

This is the way to go:

Webstore - Bp Custom Chassis

I run a full size hard case Gens Ace 5000 mAH 3S. Plenty of juice and get 4-5 hour run times on the trails and crawl spots.

That's pretty cheap. How is it for weight distribution?

I've never had an issue, weight forward is almost good, yeah? Made for a good winch controller mount too ;)
