Something I've been thinking about regarding this, is if anyone is going to use a conventional fast brushless system like a Velineon, observe the C rating of those little flight pack lipos that they use.

If you have a system that under load can surge up to 60 amps or more, it won't do a 2000 mah 25C battery much good. You'll need to get either a high discharge flight pack or one of those shorty packs like Badger is using.

Which KV Roc you useing?
I have the 3300kv that i just got that was going to go into my truggy but now with my twin hammer coming i don't know which one it should go into,

Hows the top speed with the ROC in it now?

THanks

You could easily stiffen up the suspension to make it take high speed corners better but then it wouldn't soak up the rough terrain as well as it does at high speeds.
- Unfortunately I ruined the stock electronics before I got to mount the GPS on it. I'm guessing it went about 15 MPH, maybe 17 tops.

The Tekin RS / ROC 412 brushless system is amazing in the Twin Hammers, so much power and fun! The drivetrain has held up fine to the brushless power. I don't understand your question regarding neutral position, why would you need to put the trasmission in neutral?

Norcal 2500HD came over today and put 500,000 weight in the front diff. It helped some with crawling but I think if you really wanted to hard core rock crawl with it you'll want to install the locker. The stock diff oil definitely made it easier to control at high speeds but I didn't mind it at all, Norcal 2500HD couldn't drive in a straight line to safe his life and as with every other RC he would turn every straight away into a chicane.

I have not opened the transmission up yet but I am guessing they are mostly plastic as it doesn't sound like a all metal gear tranny does. The driveshafts have held up great to a lot of abuse, they are metal. As I mentioned above the drivetrain is holding up great to the abuse we gave it.

If you want to do slow controlled crawling with it then yes I think you should have a sensored brushless motor, if you plan on doing more rock racing and bashing then a sensorless brushless system like the Traxxas Velineon because it is truly waterproof. Thanks for your kind reply Badger. Maybe the internal gears are plastic or a mix of plastic and metal (as the wraith, one is metal and two are plastic) but who cares? As long as they dont break its awsome.
The metal drivelines are a great feature in this car.
Sorry you have had problems with castle, i dont. And no issues whatsoever. I put a mamba max with a castle sct motor the 2400kv 4 pole run it in sand, foffinf with 4s lipo two 2s packs plugged in series no fan on the motor and average temp 30 degrees, after one hour and half the motor was warm to the touch. As for sensored, its best but with castle link set the start throtle curve down to 50% and dont use more than 2 in timing advance settings. Because on 4pole motors you will not gain increase in speed above 2 and you only increase heat. Both lipos used were two turnigy nanotech 5800mah with 40c discharge. With those settings you can crawl with almost no cog, to improve it better you can use one 2s lipo to crawl and bump it to 4s in series for bashing.
Cheers

This is my very first RC, so i'm a complete noob I haven't driven an RC car since I was 6~ years old.
I'm going to research batteries today so I can either order online or buy from hobbytown when I go tomorrow
or if you have a link and say "buy this", that might help me!

I find it really hard to believe a sensorless motor while crawling wouldn't cog so I call BS & I'm 100% sure with that kind of setup you can not drive down anything without free wheeling on throttle.

Sensorless Brushless setups should never be in a crawler unless you're just bashing it and want cheap speed...

Even the old outrunners would still COG. They were better than any sensorless inrunner but still cogged. Still hoping Holmes can nail the sensored outrunner.

The higher the C rating the more amperage a battery can provide. I would think the stock motor and ESC would be fine on a 25c. Add in an aftermarket motor and high speed bashing and you might want to go higher.

Isn't 65c too much punch? Or am I wrong about punch & C rating?
