I had not seen these pics prior to you handing me that part Rob. Now it makes sense. Really nice work (damn CNC guys grumblegrumblegrumble). Thanks a ton for making the long drive up to the comp to hang out. It was great to see you. Hope to cross paths soon again. Thanks for motivating me to complete my steering prior to the comp.

I think the spare tire cage mods are "done" now. Added two verticals to keep the tire from sliding forward. Also made some small threaded 7075 stubs to key into the tread a little better than the screw and nut were alone. I might need to get my vendor star back and offer this as a kit.

Eliminated the slipper spring to gain room for a battery. Both are hardened 4130. Might be cooler to make a one piece version though.

How does this yield more space? looks very similar in length (to my memory which is maybe, well... Ha)

That is with an unmodified shaft. Just put it in the truck and decided it would be worth it to shorten the shaft as well. Probably just use the washer... oh well!

This is some of the cleanest fab and CNC work I I have ever seen on a TH! Hope this build isn't gone for good.

It was recently packed deep into storage. It is a shame.

And it's continued...

Sometimes failure can be a good thing. A failed print gave me an idea and that idea turned into some new panels for the Twin Hammers.

I used three different fiber patterns to hopefully maximize the strength of the panels. They have 4 solid layers of Nylon and 1-2 solid layers of Kevlar. Thickness ranges from .020"-.024" respectively. The only finishing work required is to drill the holes. They are basically indestructible by hand but need some testing in the real world to see if they hold up.

The hood...
Unidirectional layout

The side panels...
Still unidirectional but @ 45*

The roof...
2 ply isotropic layout @ 45* and 135*

Takes two printings totalling 6.5 hours

In process...

And finally installed.

Can they be printed slightly oversized and then trimmed for a nice clean edge? How do they take paint?

Either way, excited to see life here. Sick build with a lot of wicked ideas. Will be subscribing.

They could be printed oversized or even just as a rectangular sheets and then cut with the cnc router.
