Default rob_b hits the trails

So after 2 years I couldn't stand it anymore and picked up a Twin Hammers. Was cool to pull it out with my 3 year old boys help. He grabbed the remote and said "this makes it go vrooom vrooom". Then we proceeded to jump it off the couch, endo it down a flight of stairs (landing on all fours) and pulled some donuts in the formal room. Outside was just as fun with more donuts but with leaves flying everywhere. Pulled it up to its first AZ rock and the front driveline yoke comes loose. lol. Quick pitstop to bust out the R/C sized drivers and we were back in action and killed off the pack jumping off the slide. Brought it into my shop and really wanted to tear the truck down but the wife made me promise that it would stay holy for at least 24 hours. So I just took all the stickers off the panels. 25 hours later it got torn down for a complete and proper build.

It's been a long time since I have played with the workings of an IFS (added 4" to my RC10T) so it is the first part of the vehicle that I want to give some attention. Starting with upright shocks. Nabil was kind enough to share his geometry for a tower running unmodified length SCX shocks. Great start from a super guy.

I've had this idea for a few months now. It has taken some time to mature and be stress analyzed but I'm feeling good enough to start ordering materials and getting the ball rolling. It basically boils down to leveraging the properties of 7075 and carbon to work as a unit where the sum of the whole is greater than its parts. This is an experiment and the design is still evolving.

Got to have picts in the first post

Thanks guys. Erin, the 7075 is scheduled for delivery on Friday. I'll try and get a few protos cut on the water jet come Monday. Unless I get impatient and mill some out over the weekend

Think I have a workable front spool design... still need to figure out bearing spacers.

Spooooool. Pinned ends... CVD? If so, what do you have in mind for shafts?

Stock shafts w/ slight modifications. Still working on the CAD but the idea seems solid in my head!

Thanks, hope you are patient. My builds generally get side tracked when I start making parts to sell.

The stock shafts are dogbones??? how would that work with a cvd-style spool?
