Default Sourdough Twin Hammers

Well since I suck and building trucks from scratch, I picked up this roller yesterday for a hundred bucks. It needs a lot of cleaning and lots of TLC, but I have some pretty neat ideas for it, so stay tuned!!!

It's all there minus electronics, which is perfect cause I already have most of the electronics sitting on a shelf.

It's bone stock and missing a few misc pieces. But I am going to go through it and upgrade parts as I go

Any particular ideas you have in mind?

Starting with the front:

Bolt on a bell crank
Make a carbon fiber shock mount (maybe put GTR shocks on it)
Make new links out of carbon fiber tube or 7075 aluminum
Bolt on VP knuckles

In the rear:

Make lower links out of Delrin about 20mm longer than stock
Make new upper links out of carbon fiber tube or 7075 aluminum
Maybe put Big Bores on it
Bolt on a sway bar

That is about it off the top of my head... I wanna get it running soon so I can enjoy it this summer! I'm going to get a list of parts I need and get it ordered next week

Don't forget some 500K diff lube in the front diff. Possibly a new steering servo and assembly as the stocker is pretty weak and the stock set up is sloppy. I also think you should check for stripped screws, the version I picked up off of Ebay had about 25% of the screws stripped out or missing. A stainless screw set (which didn't include ALL of the screws necessary) cost me all of 20 bucks, but it was definitely worth it.

Thanks for the tips

I will most likely run a spool in the front... Not 100% sure yet, when I take it apart to clean & grease it I will figure it out.

It didn't come with a servo, but it is going to be getting a hitec 7950 and bell crank to replace the stock set up.

I am going to put all 3mm stainless/aluminum hardware on when I go through it as well

Don't forget to check the set screws for the drive shafts front and rear to make sure they are loctited. Can't wait to see how it goes with this build

Yup, my front set screw came loose after 2 days of owning it.

Yeah I hate it when drive shafts come loose. The Losi Comp Crawler I had was really bad with that!

I'm going to put on a SDI4x4 rear drive shaft. And every screw that goes into steel or aluminum is getting loctite

Are you going to make your own bell crank or get one from a vendor? Good to see that you got your own rolling now Tom instead of stealing Wil's.

I'm going to buy a bell crank with ball bearings and mount it up somehow. Shouldn't be too hard. And yeah I loved driving Will's TH at the G6, had to get my own!

Well I tinkered on this a little bit last night. Just kinda looked it over and tried to envision what direction I want to go with it. I decided I am not going to build a hard core "scale" rig. I want it to perform great first, then have a scale appearance second.

I don't really know the scale rules for competition... I am mainly building this as a U4RC/G6/Basher

One of the first things I did was start switching out the nylocks for anodized black aluminum ones from fastener express

Next I made shift linkage for the trans. I used black aluminum hardware, light weight rod ends from a GC3A kit, 3x30mm Ti screw and springs from a Bic pen. I wanted to keep the weight down so the servo has less work. Sorry for the blurry picture, but you get the point...

Then I cut up some 2mm carbon scrap and roughed out a battery tray

Threw on some garbage wheels and tires for a quick mock up. I think I will be ordering VP Method wheels and Pitbull tires...

My Twin Hammer up grades. Sorry, I haven't figured out how to copy and paste a build thread!

Here is a build I have been working on for a while. I did the bell crank up grade, but have not post pics.

Got a heart and soul for the Twinzy today!

Also did the "green spring" mod to the front shocks

What do you guys think about running some of these sweet new 2.2's?
They fit great mounted to .225" hubs!

Tutus are a bit much on a TH, they get into the chassis/body when turning, hard on the front axles.

With the right offset, they'll work. Just be careful with tire rub
