| Gearing Question for crawling
I plan on running the MMP ESC and a sensored 3100kv. brushless motor, what gearing is everyone using for a crawler? I don't care about speed as this is for a scale build and speed just destroys the scale aspect for me. I also would not be apposed to a good brushed motor...any advice there would be considered also. So any advice on gearing for good low speed torque would be greatly appreciated, thanks a bunch guys! |

My wife's is running a 22t pinion on the stock spur, 3000kv un sensored on 2s, nice smooth crawling and plenty of wheel speed in low gear. Mine has a 21t pinion but a little rougher 4000kv system, in low gear it crawls ok ,not great but is a hill climbing machine with power to spare. Both rigs are running 2s shorty packs 21t is the smallest pinion I could fit with the stock spur. |

The stock gearing is pretty good for all around. With a sensored 3100kv you should have no problems driving as slow as you would like. For brushed motors look at Holmes Hobby, he makes great rebuild able motors not just disposable junk. Not that a disposable motor does not have its place. |

Thanks guys, that gives me a great starting point! Yeah, I've run the Holmes motors in the past and as far as I'm concerned, they're one of the best out there.I was leaning towards his 35t motor. That is definitely one of my considerations, as well as being easier to Waterproof. Thanks again guys Last edited by Dick Dragon; 03-08-2016 at 11:08 AM. |

Is anyone running any taller spur If so where are you at on Spur and pinion count? And how do you like it? I ordered a Losi Kevlar 82t to try out....... |

I'm running the 82 tooth spur. Fits just fine and allows you to run a smaller pinion gear, further helping the gear reduction for a crawler. I think a 19 tooth pinion will fit with an 82 spur. Mines currently at 25/82 as a compromise of top speed and crawlability with an old Tekin 17.5 sensored on 2s and 3s. No real complaints. It's not quite as smooth as a quality brushed 35 turn, but it's close. And not having to service the brushless motor makes it worthwhile to me. |

Going to test 82t spur and 21t pinion to start out today, if the rain will let up. We'll see how it goes.... Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk |

I'm running 88/14 with 1800kv ROC 412 with a Tekin RSX ESC on 3S. Smooth from very low speed to full throttle. |

Does anyone know of a ring and pinion with a higher or lower ratio that fits the TH? I would like to try on overdrive front end to help with steep Crawling. |

You can always swap to an SCX-10 rear end. Gives the rear end an under drive, which then over drives the front. Sent from my LG-H900 using Tapatalk |

Isn't it wider than the TH axle? And a bit pricier than swapping gears... Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk |

The scx is narrower. Pin to pin. Scx10 =7 1\8" Twin hammers =7 3/4". I am contemplating doing this mod, will report. |

I thought I had read somewhere that some Losi gears will fit but not sure which ones. I will have to look through my parts.... I may have some here somewhere Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk Last edited by Dick Dragon; 04-13-2016 at 10:19 PM. |
