| Aluminum Rear Axle Case
I recently purchased a used VTH on ebay. While waiting for delivery I ordered the GCM TowerPlate and some gmade shocks. Also waiting for the IRIE Bellcrank to be back in stock soon and then order that too, then the front end should be complete. I am know looking at the rear end. I was interested what you all think of the RC4WD Aluminum Rear Axle Case Can anyone tell me anything about this Vanquish rear axle because I love the look and can not find any information on it anywhere |

I have had the RC4WD axle housing for some time, works perfect, looks good, you just need to watch your weight distribution as it makes the rear even heavier. Are you planning on running your battery up front with the GCM plate? | |

I say if your going to go aluminum and not slide with plastic, looks would be the reason also. Nothing against RC4WD, I had one of there housings on a used TH I bought worked as it should. I just do not see the reason, they look the same as stock. If it were me I would go with this one it is perrdee. I have been contimplateing this one myself |

I don't have a TH yet but I have been researching rear axle options. Take a look at Vaterra with SCX Currie Axle Upper Links - Vanquish Products for an option to mount an SCX10 axle to the TH. Ideally I would like to do the new currie Rock Jock SCX10 II axle on the TH project eventually.

So I did a little quick reading and to do the Currie axle I need: Vanquish Products Currie Rockjock SCX10 Rear Axle Assembly Silver VPS06606 AXIAL SCX10 Rear Straight Axle SHAFT 6x104.50mm (2pcs) AX30421 AXA1230 & AXA1221 Bearings AX30392 - Bevel Gear Set 38T/13T I have not read enough to see if I will have to do anything to the VTH front Diff setup or the transmission |

You will not have to do anything with the front ring and pinion. Stock TH ring pinion is 40-14, ratio 2.857 the 38-13, ratio 2.923 will give you a slight under drive in the rear. Hardly noticeable anything that may be noticeable will be a benefit.

I'm pretty confident that the RC4WD axle housing is discontinued, so that narrows your options down a bit, which is just as well. The RC4WD housing's only benefits over the stock housing are durability and weight down low. You can get those same benefits though from the Currie housing, and the Currie housing looks way cooler. Which is maybe why the RC4WD housing is discontinued... |
