Default which esc/motor?

I am planning on building a TW to run on the beach and some rock climbing. I want to go waterproof to be on the safe side and also figure sensored brushless since it can handle long high speed run times safer. I also don't want to blow the budget, trying to keep this build reasonable.

I planned on using a 3 cell lypo. Is the Castle Mamba X WP my best choice? What size motor with it? Can I get away with the Castle Sidewinder WP? Any other suggestions?

Or should I just stay with a brushed setup. I have a Hobbywing 1080 esc with a Holmes 16t brushed motor on my TF2 with a 3 cell.

Thanks

I can only tell you what my experience has been, mostly running high speed such as the beach with paddles. I run a 10.5t sensored brushless motor (4200kv). I run a 2s battery 95% of the time because it is silly fast with a 3s.

Same here. I often run on the beach. Mabma X and 1406 3800kv slate combo (i dont think the sidewinder is sensored).
Runs great on 2S. On 3S its just wild, funny, but not actually as much fun if you know what i mean.

Great setup! Sidewinder is not sensored.

I am running a cheapo Kinexisis system, 4000 kv 4 pole motor and 80 amp esc, on 2s lipos. Non sensored, I run my Twin on trails and do lots of hill climbing and mud thrashing. I do crawl and believe it or not the slight cogging is a non issue, probably because I drive it like the real ultra 4 cars. When in doubt throttle out!

I also run a 10.5T sensored brushless on 2s. It’s quick and yet has smooth low end. My Tekin RS is my favourite ESC.

What size spur/pinion gear are you using and Mah battery? Run times?
