And more. Tried a set of Chisals but found them just too big. Maybe I'll try again once I limit the shocks some. I need to add some fuel tubing shock limiters as the position of the shock leads to excessive articulation Last edited by Rockfrog; 11-01-2009 at 10:04 AM. |

I used a spare chassis plate as a drill guide ... simply used the chassis screws and sandwiched the tuber lower half between the two plates. It was held in by the screws to clamp it there. I added 2mm spacers on the inside to take up the missing dimension and screwed it on. Had to countersink the ESC due to the rooster's heatsink being too high for the cover to fit properly. Fairly simple to do. Specs so far - Hot Racing rear lockouts, front C's, and Knuckles HPI 35T Saturn 12T pinion Losi Rock Claws on stock rims, also have Chisals on 1.3" SLW's and G8 Hammers to choose from. Axial soft front and firm rear springs Junfac CR-01 Stainless Steel driveshafts hobbico CS-70MG BB High steer mod, Controlled by a TQ3 radio system (planning to upgrade to KO Propo EX-5UR eventually) power by custom 4/2 1200mAh 2/3A NiMh pack in the chassis for now ... planning to make a custom mount for axle mounting a 2/2/2 1500 2/3A pack soon (and a Sub C 2/2/2 pack for bashing long time). Pretty much just a basher at this time but "ve got part coming to build a comper eventually - but that's another thread. Last edited by Rockfrog; 11-03-2009 at 08:01 PM. Well, changes had to happen. Had to rework the rear suspension a little tried a few ideas and ended up with them mounted at the top 'Stage 2' style and the bottoms in the stock location, links set back to stock. The front got a set of limiters added, a 6mm spacer - shock o-ring - 2mm spacer, works good and is just right. Moved the on/off switch, added a set of seine twine clip keepers. Tweaked the rear skid plate some, in hopes it may prove useful someday (if not I'll just toss it). Now I just need to lengthen the front uppers a little. Still deciding if I want to go with Lexan or Aluminum body panels. Made an attempt at stickers but can't find the right decal sheet (could only find the temp windows stuff at Staples - anyone know anything about making decals?). Pics tonight (or when i get home if the internet out here sucks tonight). And ... I finished my RTI ramp/display accessory Last edited by Rockfrog; 11-03-2009 at 07:56 PM. |

That looks really awesome! You should be able to find a ton of decals from your local hobby store. You can also find them online through different rc vendors. If you are good with photoshop you can make your own, then just buy some custom sticker printer paper and print them out from home! Any big name office supply store should carry the sticker paper. Hope that helps!

Yep, know all about how to make them and such ... just haven't been able to find the right decal sheet yet, thanks for the info though ... I'm actually trying to make custom decals. I have my designs all done up just need to get the right sheets. Oh, just in case someone asks ... the front draglink (servo to knuckle) is a stock upper link with the rod ends turned accordingly) and a 2mm spacer at the servo arm. works awesome! |

Putting the tuber on is actually prety easy, getting things tuned and working right is the hard part. Feel free to ask questions, that'll let me know what info to add as well (I'm sometimes bad for just assuming people can do things sometimes). I'll be heading home today so I'll be able to add pics and write up more info a lot quicker. Last edited by Rockfrog; 11-04-2009 at 08:58 AM. |

started the body panels ... .032" tin top, .016" aluminum sides. Couldn't find aluminum sheet big enough to do the top, but they had tin big enough. |

I made it out of ABS tubing and some copper expanded sheet. No I just need to weight it so I can drive up it without it moving. Thinking of mounting it to a steel base plate. or adding steel weights between the base spars.

UPDATE! I just found a new source for my body sheet ... Canadian Tire has rolls of .016" sheet aluminum (14"x36") for a whopping $14. This means I can re-do the roof panel, and have something big enough to do th hood and still have a crap load left over for future replacement panels. I was paying $3.50 for a samll sheet too small for a rof paneel but just barely large enough for two sides. My roof is giong to become a new center skid plate. Finshed both side panels, currently modding sevomunts to move the steering sevo back some (hoping for abt 1/4") |

I like the matte black approach - stealth FTW I would also paint the panels - but that is my taste... Last edited by UndCon; 11-10-2009 at 12:07 PM. |

made a custom 2/2/2 Sub C pack, and a new craptastic battery holder, and as a result had to make a new drag link due to battery clearance issues (need to get a different style link to fix this temporary goofy link steering). The batteries actually tuck up into the frame during articulation. Need to get a set of the 45 degree steering link ends to fix the goofy new drag link. Finished a couple more panels and then gave them the bash test, so far the roof seems to take the worst  Not sure I like the way the hood turned out but I have lots of material to retry once this one is pooched On the way are Venom Dig, Aluminum shocks to fix the 'self adjusting' stock ones, and some various upper links lengths to adjust suspension geometry some. threw the chisels on some axial Rocksters .... I still have one tires that just won't mount right but it's pretty close now so I'll leave it. I'm thinking I'll probably just swap back to Rock Claws, they haven't gone anywhere my claws couldn't and the mounting hassle has pretty much jaded me now. Current weight - 7lbs even, she's a little more top heavy than I wanted but not so much that it's a flop demon. It take a lot to make it flip and she's crawling pretty good so far.
