| newbie looking for some build help...
So I got my first crawler a while back and started to upgrade it with some RMDW parts but I am kind of lost for what the best shock angles and such are. SO I was hoping maybe from my pictures some one could get me into a baseline setup and I can tweak from there. The problem is the integy tube chassis needs to be cut welded for the shock mounts so I am looking to get everything close instead of recutting and welding a million times. Let me know what you think!! I guess I will upload the pics once I figure out what hosting site I want to use. lol |

I think my main issues are link and shock placements. I seem to have pretty good articulation where it is now I just have to to rework tge front of tge chassis to bring the shock tabs closer and remove the lower frame rods to clear the shocks. I do have another set of shock tabs for the rear. The truggy shocks work way better then the stockers on the rear. My pinion angles seem maybe too low to me. This is my first ever crawler lol. Haven't even driven yet.

The best shock angles for crawlers is between 45 and 55 degrees....45 degrees will make them very soft and give more articulation...55 degrees will give less articulation and make the shocks stiffer...softer and stiffer applies to the angular pressure on the shocks not the springs or oils...the same shock can be made to several different things depending just on the angle...I advise more toward the 55 side but 45 can be done then just increase oil viscosity and/or spring rate to make up for the softer ride if need be.
