Harley's XR10 #AX50062

I was under the impression that the markings on the motors are what location they are supposed to go in. F for front axle & R for rear axle?? It's my understanding that the rear motors' endbell is flipped 180 degrees in the can so that both motors will have red to positive and black to negative.

I think that is how the Broods are coming but I don't really know as I prefer Holmes motors.

The plastic feels just like I expected after owning other Axial kits. The upper links do feel a little flexy when pressure is applied from the side, HOWEVER they feel pretty rigid when you are applying force along the length of them. I don't think they would have any adverse effects on the suspension or lead to any "squishy" feeling suspension.

With all that being said, I do still plan on running some new upper links, but for one reason only..........TO ADD MORE ORANGE ;-) I will be using the Axial bent pipe links instead of the machined high clearance links. I will be using the machined high clearance links for lower links. They should all be here Tuesday today or Tuesday.

Lazy man's question... where did you order the links from and do you mind posting the part numbers? I split an upper, so I'm just going to replace them all while I'm at it. Thanks.

No problem:

Hey Josh, have you had any issues with the gears yet? Mine is supposed to be here Wednesday and I got a comp Sunday. Just wondering if everyone is having trouble or just some? Thanks, Crawler looks great I also order a body skinz.

It looks great Josh!

Good luck at Nationals! "thumbsup"

Thanks Jim, hopefully I make it to the big show :ror:

No problems yet even when digging really hard with it. Going to go drive it tomorrow at one of my favorite local spots and get some action shots. I will of course report back on how I feel about it "thumbsup"

Harley - any chance you could provide some tips on wiring up dual ESCs and a Castle BEC? I've been searching through the forum but I find all kinds of conflicting tips. I'd love to just see exactly how you do it.

As I understand it:
- Plug each ESC into the Rx
- Plug the servo into the Rx
- Plug the BEC into the Rx
- Pull out the red wire from ONE of the ESCs
- Solder the BECs power leads onto the +/- tips of the battery connector along with the ESCs power leads

I hope that's correct. I'm using the HH BR XLs but someone said their built-in BECs 5 amps won't be enough to power the servo so I'd need the CC BEC anyways.

The thing I'm unsure about is: with this config will I be able to run my Hitec 7980TH servo at 7.4v?

Also, will I be able to program the ESC if I pull the red wire out?

Thanks as always for your help!

I would pull the red wire from BOTH ESC's. If you have the voltage set the same technically you should be OK but I would not risk it. You will need to reinstall the red wire to program the ESC via the Castle Link. The RX will handle 7.4v without a problem so yes you will be able to get the most out of your Hitec with this setup.

Well... how'd it go? I got some time in on mine yesterday and I can see that it has great potential....

If you were going to run 2 of the BR-XL's but attempt to use the internal BEC, would you pull the red wire from one of the ESC's and leave the other to power the servo?

Nice build Harley. The foam ring is an awesome secret. Glad you shared it (I wouldn't have) What did you have to do to get Feq to make those skinz (gagging sound). Addtionaly, I'm glad you made it out alive during your "Urban" photoshoot. The rig looks awesome with those VPs.Did the same thing with my RX on a Traxxas waterproof box. Likeaglove!

Going out again today to get some more real driving in. Not the best idea to switch rigs before Nats but I'm more about having something different and cool looking then winning :ror:

If you were running two BR-XL's I would make sure the voltage was set the same on both and leave both red wires plugged in. It will double the available amperage and should give you close to the output of a CC BEC. Mdowney could use this same method but a CC BEC is easy and reliable as well.

Looking good man. We're you able to get the drive time in yet?

More time in today. "thumbsup"

I have been running that ring inside my wheels for most of the season now, this is the first time I have actually posted pictures of it on the board. I have always told the locals and anyone else really what I was running just never posted. I have no secrets on my setups. Anyone is more than willing to look at my stuff 8)

The great thing about those skins is they are just one of Neals available skins, I just asked him to change the color from red to orange and throw my logo on. That is a cheap upgrade that anyone can do to any one of his skins. Made it look super custom with very little effort.

Great thanks for that info...it hadn't even occurred to me!

Just went and ran the rig for a few hours. It did very well I feel it just needs about 1oz more in each front wheel. It side hilled well and had great wheel speed for my liking. I took a bunch of photos and will try and get some of them posted up this evening still.

I am at the office now, trying to get some work finished up before I leave for Nationals this week
