Szczerba's 2012.2 Secret Agent'd 3.5 Bodiless Berg

Re: Szczerba's 2012.2 Secret Agent'd 3.5 Berg

Truck is looking real good. I cant wait to compete against a couple of these rigs. I guess after ECC i will know if i need to go on a diet as well. Until then I will stick to my 5.983485289 lb rig.

Thanks. Don't call it a diet or you won't stick with it. Refer to it as a "nutrition plan" :ror:
I am chomping at the bit to get to ECC.

well shane, it looks great! nice vids as well. glad i didn't get any practice at the comp spot..

looks killer!

I only ran one line that has been on a previous course setup. :ror: It's not a big area, especially when the water is up just a little.
It works better than it looks, so that is saying alot! Cause it looks great.

A couple more lightweight parts are en route to my house. Should get me under 5lbs with one set of parts.
The other set is some new D-Lux carbon fiber wheel faces replace the delrin fronts and my homemade carbon fiber rears. "thumbsup"

Re: Szczerba's 2012.2 Secret Agent'd 3.5 Berg

Do you by chance have complete fr/rr axle weights motors, servos, etc minus tires?

I'm curious what the ccd's weigh compared to my dlux's.

No knuckle wts as well.

They are close, yours are a bit heavier but I can't tell how much knuckle wt you have on the front. My front is 20.25 complete minus weights.

Thx I always forget about your first build.

Yea, that 4.0 build was so January 2012. Way outdated now. :lmao:

The picture posted were my homemade weights at 2oz each side. So you can subtract 4oz for the weights and about 3oz for the battery and battery mount I made. Don't forget the black spray paint weight too. :ror:
I now run about 4oz on each side, IIRC.

Re: Szczerba's 2012.2 Secret Agent'd 3.5 Berg

May not look like much but none of my previous berg setups would climb this rock at my house. It's pretty slick, narrow and leaves a small window for error. I have wasted countless battery packs on it, dating back to my SS chassis setup.

I had just put on the D-Lux wheels last week and tired the rock, no luck after almost a 500mah pack of trying it. Finally got some time to test with my new rear CarbonFiber faces I made. Went out to the rock and got the climb on the 3rd attempt. This video show just after it.

It's a pretty big milestone for my berg setup. :ror: To me anyways!

Good deal man. I love that feeling when a new setup makes an old line for the first time. "thumbsup"

It's funny how that works. We eagle eye and heckle each other at club comps but at national events things are the opposite and we group together and kinda make team work out of it. I will be proud for any ARCCican to do well! Can't wait !

Oh yeah. The rig looks, ok. :ror:

Yea, 'cept none of my previous setups would make this climb. Other than putting my finger on the front axle ever so glently. :ror:

very cool shane!"thumbsup"
It was quite a joyous occasion.

Looking great Shane! Looking forward to meeting ya in a few weeks.
Thanks. I think we met at the Turkey Crawl. Ashton and I trekked out there for that comp. If not, we'll see ya then.

Yes sir. Wasn't sure how the recycled skins would look but they turned out good. Kinda like a Monet, just don't look at them up close. My recycled application techniques were hasty.

Good job, Shane. It's always great to do lines the first time. Can't wait to see your rig in action at the ECC "thumbsup"

Yea. I think I jumped up a little and looked around to see if anyone else saw it. Just my dog and he wasn't interested.

Nice Shane!

Thanks. With the 4.0 bodied Secret Agent and some testing and tweaking of the links it works awesome. I am using the exact same links that I used with the 4.0 setup. Lengths are in my first couple posts. Like I mentioned, I could shorten the front uppers a bit just too lazy to do it right now.

The 3.5 setup on the berg is showing to be a great setup. New D-Lux faces will be in before too long as well as some lightweight parts that will get me under 5lbs without the new CF faces! They arrived at the post office this morning. Might get some pictures up later this afternoon.

And more lightweight option parts are in the que. Just need to do some research.

All can be bought by sourcing other R/C truck parts. "thumbsup"

Not in the ounces but the grams range. RPM makes some delrin rod end pivot balls that Rolandrockshop told me about. They have to be trimmed a bit since they are a little longer than revo pivot balls. We'll see how they hold up. #70181
I put a mix of those and the plastic axial pivot balls on tonight. Didn't get below 5lb with swapping those out.
So, I removed 0.7 ounces from each knuckle weight just leaving my homemade add on weights on the bottom.
3.3 oz on each knuckle weight now.
Truck is now 4lbs 14.8oz RTR
Did some testing and the truck still climbs verticals with no issues. It actually climbs the rock in the video above easier!
