WTF Tony Stewart

Youll notice in the video that when TS's car passes the guy the rear of the car kicks in towards the lower part of the track, or away from the racer standing on the track. It could be completely coincidental but you here a throttle blip when this happens in the vid. This would lead one to think that the throttle was tapped when the rear of the car passed the racer standing on the track.

I could care less about TS or any other race car driver from any genre of the sport, but I am an enthusiast all around.

Did you actually read what you quoted? We said the same thing, the rear of the car swings left/front goes right.

If he'd have blipped the throttle the nose would have gone left since the rear tires are staggered. Taller wider on the right and narrower shorter on the left so the car will naturally rotate the nose to the left when on the throttle. ;-)

Im well aware of how the cars work (actually all the tires are staggered). But going that slow and smacking the throttle would cause the rear of the car to drop towards the lower side of the pitched track. Granted its not talladega but its still a pitched track.

Ill add this (after watching it for the 37th time), for the people saying TS was running too fast and too high look at the second car before TS to come around on the tragic lap (the one before the blue one). Hes going faster and higher than TS. Personally, I think the kid was just lucky he didnt get hit sooner.

I absolutely agree with that.

Exactly RANOVRU. I've been saying this all day. I got the news early from an acquaintance that works as a sports writer for the local newspaper. He was spouting off saying that Tony needs to be brought up on first degree murder charges. (Not hello, good morning, or bugger off. Really?! This is how you wake me up on a Sunday) When asked about the incident he admitted that he hadn't even seen the footage yet. I walked him through all the things that didn't make sense to me as a racer and he could not refute anything I mentioned. If he goes to print tomorrow with the story saying that Tony should be hanged in the courthouse square I will be very disappointed. I hope to get to hear the press conference when it airs.

Typical media. Even on a local level. They are more worried about beating competition to the presses with any bit of info they have. Truth, fiction, hear say, what a little birdy told them etc facts be damned. Your acquaintance should be slapped in the teeth with a shovel along with any other jump the gun media...

I just got a mental picture of what that would look like and almost spit my coffee across the room. I also like "smacked in the face with a fish".

So, now that we've relaxed a little... whatcha think is gonna happen?

I bet nothing.

Tony, twice the age of the poor fella who bum rushed a car on track, is not retarded. I think we can agree on that? Besides his entire life long career of achievements, whatever they are, he is not gonna get that pissed off at some 20 year old sprint car kid who spun himself out. Doesn't make sense.

And then I'll ask you all this, do you think Stewart touched that kid's car, or not?

Media of all kinds especially social media. Everyone is reactionary and a bunch of sheeple. Does the now HGTD thread about a chick holding a cap gun to an infants head ring a bell?

I'm with you. I wouldn't doubt there will be a lawsuit brought by the kids parents that will drag out for a few years and jack shiat will come of it other than the lawyers get more billable hours.

From that video it doesn't look like Stewart touched his car to me. It looks like Stewart gave him the old fashioned slide job and the kid lost it and by the time the yellow came out Stewart was back around the track still going pretty fast because sprint cars are so fast to begin with. The kid should have never went out on to the track like that and got in front of Stewart. Another thing that would make the right rear of the car jump out like that is sprint cars have all the brake bias going to the left front to make them turn and when Stewart did see the kid he got on the brakes hard and it made it do what it's supposed to do. The throttle blip probably came from some where else on the track guys are always doing that under yellow to keep the motor form loading up. That's just my 2cents . I've been around racing from birth.

I agree. I think nothing will really come from all of this.
Point blank, the kid put his own life at risk the moment he stepped foot out of his car.
What happened next could have happened to any of the other drivers there that night.

Did he touch his car, from the video, it's hard to tell.

Watch again.

And I do think it was Stewart's throttle blip. The car (seemingly) behaves just as it would if the throttle was blipped.

Notice the ass end was already stepped out a bit and he was countersteering when the car comes into frame.

This would be so much easier to suss out if there were more than one shitty video. If TS had an in-car camera, I doubt we'll ever see the footage.

I am sure there will be more videos showing up in the coming days.

There had to be more then one shitty video out there last night.

I've watched this video so many times I should be embarrassed.

I say Stewart didn't touch his car. Nothing of Stewart's car's behavior shows he did. Same with the other car, he was washing out and lost it. I bet there might even be a foot between the two. I also say, Stewart didn't blip the gas til after the fact. That took me a while to see or hear, but I think it's correct. Stewart even stopped immediately. Tire width might come into play, but the kid walked into traffic, and you can't deny that. He was obviously livid about something. Sucks all around.

I agree with you again. The only winners in this situation will be the lawyers.

I've had to avoid all sorts of things on the road in my time driving and the majority of the time hitting the brakes and swerving was what was called for but there have been several times that hitting the gas was the way to go.
